Even though we are in the middle of a pandemic and everyone's main goal is to save money, second-hand is not a viable solution. Don't be swayed by the economic crisis, and don't buy second-hand stuff all the time. There will be profile sites full of offers that you can't refuse, but you can spend more on such things than if you bought them. Here are some examples.

Don't buy second-hand laptops

It is better to buy a second-hand PC than a laptop. The chances of it being hit, dropped, or abrupt in any way are much higher. And once hit, a laptop may have problems with your hard drive, optical drive, or other vital parts that may malfunction when your world is dearer to you. And where do you put that you have no guarantee?

Exception: You can buy a used laptop only from specialized stores, which recondition them and offer you a guarantee for them. As an additional guarantee, you can buy a laptop whose reconditioning is guaranteed by the manufacturer.

Plasmas and LCDs

These TVs are quite sensitive, and if the screen "dies", its repair may cost you more money than if you bought it again. Although technology has advanced, and the failure rate of TVs has dropped from 7 to 1% (this is the case with very good models), there are still problems, the solution of which is quite expensive.

Exception: You found such a good offer that you don't care if the TV breaks down as soon as you get home and plug it in.

Second-hand DVD players

Although you can buy second-hand DVDs (as long as they are not scratched), the same cannot be said of DVD players. They are based on a laser that will eventually run out.

And replacing it costs more than a new player. Especially since the prices are constantly decreasing due to the improvement of technology.

Second-hand vacuum cleaners

Vacuum cleaners fall into the category of household appliances subjected to "trauma". They can be hit, slammed, and all these incidents can seriously damage their lifespan. And if you buy such a vacuum cleaner and it happens to break down, repairing it will cost you more than a new one anyway.

Exception: If you are skilled enough to repair household appliances yourself, then it may be a solution to buy them.

It is not good to buy second-hand car seats for children.

A child car seat that was involved in an accident can no longer protect your child like a new one.

And according to statistics from the UK, one in 10 child car seats was placed in a car that had an accident. In addition, technology is advancing, and children's car seats are improving year by year. It would be good to think that the safety of your child is much more important than the economic crisis.

Exception: You can take the chair from a friend or relative you trust. Remember, your child's life may depend on this chair.

Second-hand digital cameras or video cameras

Like any high-tech device, digital video or photo cameras wear out very quickly due to the speed with which technology is evolving. In addition, video or photo cameras wear out physically very quickly.

One blow is enough to damage something. Which, of course, you won't see when you buy a second-hand device. And if it breaks down anyway, you will have to pay a lot for the repair. If you want to save money when you buy such a device, it would be good to turn your attention to the models from the previous year.

Exception: As in the case of laptops, if you still want to get something second-hand, you can look for specialized stores, which recondition them and offer you a guarantee for them.
