5 tips for those who are not in New Year mood

The end of December is approaching. You scroll through the Instagram feed and see how all your friends are happy with the first snow, enjoy the festive bustle and look forward to the New Year. Here it is, New Year's mood, but why is it so far away? At such moments, it seems that you are the loneliest person on Earth.

In fact, you are not alone. Many of us feel depressed before the holidays. The Americans even came up with a name for this condition "holiday blues", or "Pre-holiday syndrome."

Why does this happen?

In childhood, our parents and grandparents prepared a real New Year's miracle. They decorated the apartment, went to the bazaar for a living Christmas tree, laid the table, and then Santa Claus gave the very gift that you have long dreamed of. But we are already adults. There are annual reports, sleep deprivation, deadlines and a million other reasons that make us feel squeezed out like a lemon to a lemonade.

But does this mean that one cannot get out of such a state? Fortunately, we can make ourselves a miracle. How to catch this New Year's mood and relax? We share life hacks.

1. Decorate the apartment

Our home is a place where you can rest and relax. Take a look around. Are you comfortable? Do you feel cozy? This is very important. Especially now, when many people work remotely.

Start decorating your apartment and add a festive touch to the interior.

The first is, of course, the tree. We advise you to choose a live one so that you can enjoy the smell of pine needles every day.

Life hack! The fluffiest and most graceful trees are Danish firs. And if you don't want to install a Christmas tree, you can put spruce branches in a vase - fragrant Christmas tree branches.

Next up is warm light. This is what can give comfort and tranquility. Hang garlands around the apartment. They can be placed on a tree, placed on a table or window sill, or mounted on curtains.

And also - choose burgundy, dark green or deep blue textiles. Bed linen, blanket, towels, tablecloth - all this will fill the house with an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility.

2. Give yourself time to step back from the New Year's race

At the end of December, everything around you screams that you should be happy and enthusiastic. This is often unsettling, especially when you don't feel like having fun at all.

The hustle and bustle of the holiday can be further stressful. Kilometer-long queues for gifts, crowds of people on the streets and New Year's markets, discounts in stores, Christmas music from every speaker. If you are tired of this, say, "Stop." Exhale and step aside. It is not necessary to participate in this. Decide what you really want and stick with your personal plans.

3. Take a day off

If you want a simple winter fairy tale, a walk in the coniferous forest will help. You can do this alone. Listen to the crunch of the snow under your feet, breathe in the frosty air, put your thoughts in order. And then take your family or friends with you. Make snowmen, play snowballs, ice skate, bake gingerbread cookies, decorate the tree together. In general, do whatever will leave fond memories.

Such little joys will help you escape from the hustle and bustle, fully relax and get a boost of good mood.

4. Give yourself a gift

Remember, now the main Santa Claus is yourself. Have you wanted to buy your favorite perfume for a long time, please yourself with a new ring or go to the mountains for a snowboarding? Do it, you deserve it!

You can arrange small surprises for yourself. Buy a Christmas bath bombs box, an advent calendar, or a cool home decoration. Not to relatives, friends or colleagues, but to yourself! Trust me, this is a very important step in creating the feeling of a New Year's miracle.

5. Get in the New Year's mood

Remember the first matinees in kindergarten? When we all believed in a fairy tale, we called Santa Claus and Snegurochka or asked the Christmas tree to burn. And although we have grown up a long time ago, we still hope and wait for a fairy tale every year. Now just imagine - Sberbank has reliably "insured" the New Year's magic, and a miracle will surely happen!

SberStrakhovanie has launched a fun nostalgic game "Insurance of miracles" with voice control and invites you to call Santa Claus, who will certainly hear and come with gifts.

All participants will receive a promotional code for a SberPrime subscription, as well as a chance to win a smart TV box SberBox and a candle with a scent of calm from SberStrakhovanie. And the luckiest one is also a personal congratulation from Sergei Zhukov from Hands Up! Here is a great excuse for an unscheduled weekend or a long-awaited gift for yourself.
