Your Parents Will Never Understand You

Parents Not Knowing Who You Are

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you're not as important to your parents as you might think. Don't get me wrong, your parents may love you, but your views and the way you want to live your life aren't given much importance. In their eyes, you will always be considered the least important, as if you know nothing about life. They will never truly understand you, always regarding you as the clueless child. Even when you are 35 years old, you will still always be the clueless child.

You may often want your parents to be proud of you, you may want your mom and dad to think of you as someone to be proud of. And yes they may be very proud of you on a lot of things. But say you want to go do a certain thing with your life, maybe have a certain experience, your parents will shoot that down, destroy that experience that you want to have with your life. They will fight really hard and even make you question it, which will lead you to never doing it. Like a dream being crushed.

Yes, your parents will always want to protect you, they will often just want you to be safe, they want to protect you from a big scary world. But all that really does is cause you to hate your parents, causes you to not care about them at all, and in a way you become numb. But not just that, you become very rebellious and want to fight against anything they like or believe in.

I believe parents fell to realize their kids need to make mistakes just like they did, in order to grow as a person. The only way for you to become the best version of yourself I believe is just by doing things. Just trying to find ways to understand life. Your parents are not you, so you having an interest in something they don’t care about, they will obviously try to shoot that interest down and possibly even cause you to never try that interest. Your parents won’t be able to understand you. Your parents will obviously like to think, just cause you are their kid that you should follow their dreams, have their interests. Parents want you to follow them, they want you to have the same values. And that is okay, it’s okay for your parents to want to feel that way, but they need to also understand that you are a different person, and not just their mini-me.

I believe people who are often bitter and just not very nice people, are people who have just lived the same life as their parents, they never had time to sit and think about their life. They just followed the same path their parents followed.

I believe parents need to also understand that you are going through life in a different way, compared to the way they did. Not everything in life that happened in their life will happen your life. Everybody will often just have different experiences in what they do. It is kinda like looking up reviews for things, you got people who had a great experience in particular thing, then you had someone with a terrible experience in particular thing. Life is just full of different experiences.

Your parents are not in your head, so they will never truly understand what you are going through. They will never understand why like that boy or girl, or maybe why you like doing a certain thing, or maybe why you would even want to try a certain thing, like an experience or an interest. They are not in your head so they won’t understand it. So you should just do that thing you wanna do, specially if it is something you really believe in. Now I am not saying disrespect your parents or anything, but maybe try and find a way to make them understand why you want to do it. Or maybe just do it, I believe once you figure out that tomorrow’s are just gonna keep on coming you will realize just how special your life is. So yea, just understand and face the fact that your parents will never understand you.
