WILL THE CORONA-VIRUS AFFECT THE URBAN MODELLING INDUSTRY ?

Social Distancing vs Urban Glamour

A few weeks ago we wrote a blog on the concerns this Corona-virus will have on the music industry. Although many were optimistic things would return to normal our in-depth knowledge of associated industries means we are able to evaluate things from a wider perspective. The music industry is connected to several other industries and what tend to happen is when one or two industries are affected, it has a domino effect on the rest. Nevertheless, lets have a look at the different opinions others have as to what is going on and what is going on.

@gorgeousbarbieuk is a urban modelling agency which offers bookings for some of the most beautiful and sexiest female models on the scene. If you are looking for models for your photo-shoot and want to stand out with the hottest ladies then @gorgeousbarbieuk is one of the agencies you can go to. What I appreciate about @gorgeousbarbieuk is the fact they are not afraid to come across professional. There can be many stereotypes when it comes to urban brands and how they conduct their business. One has to say when they were approached by "Urban Glam Life" the introduction and discussion were very friendly and cordial. Although it was just an inquiry, we were told what it is exactly they do, and if we did not want there services now you are always free to come back and make an inquiry. It is because of how this business relationship was conducted we were able to come back as a digital media platform and get their opinions on how the the Corona-virus will be affected. @Gorgeousbarbieuk continues to be a brand we will follow closely as a voluntary media outlet as they continue to showcase Beauty, Body Positivism and Diversity in their model recruitment and representation. The models on their very confident and so they should be! So if your sensitive to sexy women and the sexualisation of their photography I would suggest you read and look into something else. But if this is your thing, then @Gorgeousbarbieuk is the one.

Another reason for our admiration towards @Gorgeousbarbieuk is that it is run and managed by a "Woman". The reason we say this is because in our early stages as urban Glam Life we attempted to be a modelling agency for Curve and Plus size models and encountered a whole load of issues we were either too innocent or naive to see. As a male brand owner we were confronted with Men who wanted extra services thinking we were an Escort Service which we are NOT! In addition we also came across many extortionist who felt were a multi million platform which were ready to be sued for a whole load of things we did not do and have never done. We found ourselves explaining and protecting our brand then doing the things we set out to do. In return we decided to was not for us. A lot of our energy was being wasted on nonsense and our aim is to be a genuine brand for Beauty, Body Positivity, For The Culture. So we give our hats off to you. To manage a brand and business in such a competitive and volatile industry is a credit to her strength of character, focus and determination.

Will the Corona-virus affect the Urban Modelling Industry ?

@Gorgeousbarbieuk appeared to be very confident about there position when it came to impacts of the Corona-virus. She advised us that they do not think they will be affected by the Corona-virus because they are still receiving bookings for their models and it is business as usual. We are confident things will blow over and get back to normal.

The Ceo of @Gorgeousbarbieuk also explained there are several ways to adapt to the introduction to Social Distancing by having home studios. With the influx of people selling beats online it is easier then ever before to get your music produced. So by adapting the industry will be able to find ways of working and keep going.

One could argue that @Gorgeousbarbies is in a good condition because it has built up a reputation and clientele over the years, and when you produce good work and treat people right your customers will always have some loyalty and affinity towards you.

"Thank you to Naomi Brown of @Gorgeousbarbieuk for talking to "Urban Glam Life". Your feedback was very appreciated. "

Can new start-ups evolve in this climate?

The truth is we do not know. Although @Gorgeousbarbieuk are confident in their own business strategy, the reality for others is a bit more daunting! In reality the Corona-virus is the pure reason for the emergence of "Social Distancing". This means large scale concerts and events will be scrutinized more than ever before. Artists who are not able to perform live will find it more difficult to perform their music and earn a living. This also has impacts on the live performance royalties. All this makes it harder for the Artist who is not signed to earn revenue. This then means the budget for music videos and more will be seriously reduced unless the funds are coming from another sauce. While that is another discussion the other obstacles are that the government legislation on Social Distancing will make it harder for independent groups to carry out their production and projects for fear of breaching Social Distancing Laws and regulations.

Even if we decide to just go back to the way things were we still have to live in fear of another virus epidermic or 2nd wave outbreak. It is sad to say that if this is the way forward and we are forced to live with these circumstances, we will therefore be sacrificing our lives for our creative ambitions which is a harsh reality and truth if things continue the way it is.

This blog article is not to discourage you from your creative ambitions but simply to help paint the realities of the road that lies ahead. At urban Glam Life we feel these are times no one was prepared for. So all we can do is have faith, be vigilant, and see how this plays out...

Thank you for reading and a Tip would be appreciated. Come back again!

URBAN GLAM LIFE

Urban Glam Life is a brand I set up a few years ago and it has since been evolving into a platform that challenges social boundaries on the perception of Beauty, Body Positivity and For The culture. In short "accepting all body types".
