What You Need To Understand About True Success

Few Leaders Do This Right

So many Leaders look up to others and praise the successes that they have.

It's not wrong to recognize success where you see it.

However, HOW Leaders recognize it often becomes problematic.

It isn't just an acknowledgment of the success - it usually becomes an almost cult-like worship of the success.

But this cult-like following becomes SO many people's undoing.

They think, "If I just do it like that successful person, I am bound to have my own success!"

However, it NEVER happens like that, and it is for a variety of reasons.

Why Most Don't Find Success

➼ Only One Aspect

When we look at people, we only see one VERY small aspect of their life.

Few "successful" people actually speak about the parts of their lives that are a complete MESS.

What we do see that makes them so "successful" actually is extremely detrimental to other parts of their lives.

I have watched this play out in the lives of many people around me, and sometimes it is EXTREMELY ugly.

When Leaders begin to apply the "success" principles they see from these individuals, they quickly end up with all of the unseen problems of those individuals as well.

You must be VERY careful when looking at success because this aspect is completely missed.

➼ What Worked For Them Won't Work For You

Another problem Leaders come across is that when they see success, they will then end up trying to mimic that success.

However, when this is done, you discover that it doesn't seem to work.

Why is that?

It's really simple actually - you aren't them!

Their success came from a completely different set of circumstances to your own.

You have different strengths than they do.

You have different weaknesses than they do.

You are in different industries than them.

You have different competitors than them.

You have different teams from them.

Your interactions with your teams and your customers are different.

Your products and services don't resemble theirs in the slightest.

The truth is, whatever worked for them will never work for you!

You need to understand not the specifics of what made them successful, but the general principles of what worked.

Then you need to adjust to YOUR specific circumstances.

➼ Master Vs. Apprentice

When it comes to people who are successful, many people think that they just need to do something similar to have similar success.

But this isn't how it happens, because the person you learn from is the Master.

You are simply the apprentice.

When people have to decide between learning from the Master or from the Apprentice, their go-to choice will be the Master.

You will only be left with whatever is left over after the Master either can't work with other people or won't work with other people.

Your success literally depends on the scraps of someone else's success.

True success requires you to become your own master, distinct and separate from other masters.

➼ Bleeding Ocean

The other thing you see occur VERY quickly is that when someone has success, EVERYONE tries to imitate that success.

However, when EVERYONE does it, it is no longer distinct, it is no longer special.

What was once a blue ocean for the person who had success, because a blood-infested ocean for everyone else.

Potential customers and clients can't distinguish you from anyone else, and when unable to distinguish, they run away.

When you see EVERYONE doing the same thing, your first instinct should be to run.

ESPECIALLY when you see how many of them are struggling in their lives!

I constantly see this in the marketing world - daily I get messages from marketers that all almost say the exact same thing, and they all almost look exactly the same.

Maybe 1 message in a thousand actually catches my eye these days, but even rarely do those catch me.

What this tells me is that NONE of them are having success, they are all in a bleeding ocean, with the blind leading the blind.

There is a cult-like mentality around something that clearly isn't working for the majority.

How It Applies In My World

It is also what I see in the world of "Leadership Development" - thousands of coaches, teachers, and trainers doing similar things.

Thousands of coaches, speakers, teachers, and trainers with an 80% failure rate that leads to $315 Billion+ being wasted yearly.

It's why I refuse to follow the same methods as everyone else.

I know they aren't working.

They aren't working for the coaches, speakers, teachers, and trainers that are all struggling and doing the exact same thing.

They aren't working for the Leaders who are failing to have success in the world, and are failing to accomplish anything.

That's why I began to look where others weren't looking.

It's how I found that our psychophysiology is far more important to Leadership success than any skills that are being taught.

So many Leaders are failing to find success because of the biological factors that impact their leadership.

If we can mend those factors, we end up finding much more success.

That is what is needed in our world today to create the next generation of Legendary Leaders.
