Never Fitting In At Work. Top Story - June 2021.
To begin with, I never really felt like I fit in anywhere. Perhaps there are reasons for those feelings that I should have tried to address much, much earlier in life. However, hindsight being 20/20 doesn't do anything for the future, or even the now. Rejects, misfits, renegades, rogues, and loners. That's where I always felt I was in the social constructs of society.

What I do every day
When people ask what I do and I tell the, I’m an artist they have this belief or assumption that I just paint pictures and kick back after finishing the latest colouring book. The funniest response I’ve been asked after informing someone that I am an artist was:

Avoiding Board Room Blunders
Ideas come to me in the strangest of places. I could be lathering up mid-shower and feel the need to rush out and execute a plan that flashed through my mind. I once mentally created an entire political musical during my daily commute; complete with character building, sub-plots and the perfect songs interjected at key moments of the 'play'. So when I approached our local Land Trust with an idea to bring a children's program to them on a whim, I wasn't expecting that they love the idea so much, that they decided to make me a board member too.

Gembership
I appreciate this prompt as I have been challenged to deeply examine the question of what brings me true fulfillment. It is a very separate issue from how I could potentially monetize that passion. It is not often we approach these questions in the order above. Too often the quest for money supersedes passion.

My Portsmouth Uni Journey
It was September 2015 and I was sat in my partners car going towards Portsmouth ready for me to start at the University of Portsmouth in a few weeks, I wanted to go down earlier as it was a new area to me and I wanted to have plenty of time to find my way around before the term started. My first University home was Helena road by the canoe lake in Southsea, Portsmouth. I was literally a five minute walk from the beach. Moving away from home (which for me was Bristol) was daunting because before now I had never lived on my own and had my family within minutes of each other if I needed help but now I was going to have to figure everything out on my own. I suppose in a way I choose a Uni away from home so that I could find myself and be more independent then I was back home, it would be good for me and lets face we all have to grow up and become adults at some point so why not start at university.

Are Hybrid Work Models The New Normal? Will They Help Us Navigate the Brave New World of Work in the Post Pandemic Age?
Covid has forced us indoors and companies to adopt Work from Home arrangements. Initially considered a short term measure, organizations worldwide are now contemplating making WFH either permanent or have some sort of mixed or the so-called “Hybrid Work” which is essentially a combination of onsite and remote work. While Tech firms such as Google and Twitter have provided their employees with the option of permanent WFH, others are moving towards a Hybrid model.

CAREER SCOPE IN SOC

So, building a SOC team is incredibly very important to any size of corporate.

I Am An Author Is This The Next Big Fad
Write an article, get the traffic. Well, sort of! Since the birth of writing articles, our industry has caught on to the phenomenon of increasing your website’s traffic by becoming a professional in your field. The only problem with this is that for every serious professional in one field, there are a thousand other writers who are jumping on the “bandwagon”.

Inspiring Unicorns
An anonymous writer once gave this advice: “Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession.” I know this to be true because what started as a childhood affinity for gifting my writings and drawings to friends and family, morphed into me finding ways for my creative work to inspire and support dreams as an author.

Let Me Introduce Myself....
First of all, thank you for reading this. I really didn’t think anybody would read this other than my wife. Welcome to what I hope would be the first of many blogs of random thoughts and rants that will hopefully make you think, laugh, share and discuss (and of course tip). I thought a good way to start this new relationship is to of course introduce myself. Now, despite the title of this page, I am a real breathing human being with feelings and not a robot. The title of this page is just a reflection of who I am. Despite my rather large stature (yeah I’m a big dude) you wouldn’t notice me if you saw me or engage me in conversation if you see me. I’m the human embodiment of the square peg in the round whole. I’m big but not athletic enough to be a jock and I’m nerdy but not nerdy enough to speak Klingon. The reason why I started this page because my wife thought it was a good idea to share my opinions and thought on the internet as a way to vent my frustrations, depressions and jokes (which means she got tired of me talking her head off). So let me tell you a little about myself and some of the topics I’ll be talking about in the future:
