SFS 8-week Challenge Approaching Finish Line

“Welcome to Vocal's Summer Fiction Series!” - Two months ago Vocal shook up its members with this announcement. What an engaging 2 months have been for all regardless of whether one participated or not; like me :(

It was a good endeavor that scaled up the not so old “Fiction” community. The fiction community now stands at 3rd place in story count that's touching 22K and 2nd in the number of creators at 11+K. WOW!

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners and participants.

What a rocking 2 months it was for the Vocal+ fraternity. Coupled with the pouring stories on the site; the Facebook groups were also rattling with promotions, advice, excitement, cheers, complaints, comments and encouragement for each other. And, i am sure this was not only on the platform, but the promotion was intense outside FB in other social networking handles too, including WhatsApp groups. This was the best time to leverage the earnings on reads. The recent new feature “Subscribe” allows one to get the latest stories from their favorites directly on their feed, Vocal or Vocal+. This is a wonderful feature that connects writers with their audience.

Truly wonderful engaging 2 months that kept the members – participating or not – gripped in excitement like in a mega event. Not to forget that the enthusiasm must have helped to keep the deadly COVID-19 at bay for the participants remained glued to their screen and keyboards at home obeying the “stay home stay safe” norm by default 😀

Just a few hours left to the finish line of the rocking 8-week challenge that kept all Vocal+ fraternity so very engaged. It wasn’t only about submitting as many to increase stakes and win the jackpot. The rewards and the topics were just too tempting to ignore by the fiction writers.

But it must not have been easy for the Vocal Editors Panel too. As the participant raced, they too had to accelerate their reading and selection, which must have been an arduous task. I did read a lot of people expressing their disappointment over the selection of winners but i have been into a similar job for years and trust me; screening, reading every word and assessment is a humongous task given the fact that it was time-bound and no limit to entries. So kudos and applauds to team Vocal.

Team Vocal, still has the remaining task of announcing the winners post the closing of the last challenge SFS 8 : Pear Tree in just a few hours.

Dear Team Vocal, i know you had a packed breathless schedule last two months but it is very discouraging to see the gloomy empty box adjoining this challenge. Not used to this anymore! Please fill this box.

While it was fun reading the themed fiction entries, it’s now time to spring non-fiction writers into action. It serves fiction writers as much and will keep the ball rolling for them and for you as well.
