Vocal has changed a lot past few years. I have been a member of this site for three and a half years and has seen changes even though the interface and the concept remains the same. You can write about whatever you want on Vocal and get paid for it. Vocal has grown a lot since I last joined and there has always been a lot of competition to get more reads and hopefully some tips for their work.

I joined Vocal Plus, the website’s premium service to take part in the exclusive writing challenges to flex out my creativity. Vocal is a sandbox to my writing and I feel that this week’s challenge about kindness and how people have been kind to you and how you are kind to others is very relevant.

Some people are nice just to fit in and as a trend. Toxic positivity is also highly dangerous. It’s true That there is a lot of negative stuff out there, but the little acts of kindness is the candle in the dark room. Any glimmer of hope is worth hanging onto, no matter how small. If you suffer with mental health and depression, this is sometimes almost impossible.

Tips on Vocal

Tips is one of the best features on Vocal. I have been tipped several times in various amounts. It dosen’t matter if it’s a dollar or fifty dollars, every tip means a lot. Tips are paid within a few days and enter your account instantly via Strtipe, so there is no waiting. The main earnings are under a threshold. As it stands it’s $20 for Vocal Plus members and $35 for everyone else. That means it’s easier to track. I’ve seen a lot of writers use the tips they receive as fundraising for their chosen charities. Some are also donating a percentance of all their money earned on Vocal to charity. With this in mind, Vocal has become a powerful tool to use as a way for spreading kindness.

Standing Up

Vocal feels Left-Wing, but there have been mixed views from across the political sector. Vocal are really good at amplifying views. Other writers have made great contributions towards the Me Too and Black Lives Matter movements. They’re also encorperated in a lot of the challenges too like the open letters to Donald Trump, ethical fashion and beauty products on a budget and posts about lifestyle changes.

Following Passions & Inspiring Others

All of us have different passions that has brought us all to Vocal. I’ve written a lot of posts on Vocal about the music I love and I hope that they help the bands I love get more exposure and inspire other people to write about the music that they love. Like all writers, I have suffered with Writer’s Block and during the pandemic it was a struggle to get words out. When I read posts about people’s favourite music, it inspired me to write it. This is another way how Vocal indirectly spreads kindness.

Being Kind to Others

I’ve posted a lot of reviews on this site. One review for an indie game was discovered by the devs, and they thanked me personally. They have since released another great game and are currently in progress of another game which is set to be another huge success for the team.

Being Kind to Yourself

I think I sometimes forget to be kind to myself. When I’m not working or playing games or reading books, I feel like I should be writing. I used to write a lot between 2016-2020, but I did burn out. I think during the pandemic my body was telling me that I needed to rest and not try and take the world on at once.
