Many entrepreneurs are always looking to make the buying experience easier and better when it comes to eCommerce. When they do that, customers are most likely going to buy again.

One of the biggest trends in e-commerce is voice control. Shopify, Shoplazza, Wix, and many other eCommerce platforms have voice control plug-ins in their app store. But is it worth the effort to implement in your online store, or is it just a gimmick?

This article will discuss the usage and the future of voice search in the e-commerce industry.

eCommerce Voice Search Explained

Before we get into the opportunity of voice search, we should first understand what voice search is and how it works for eCommerce sites!

Voice search is exactly what it sounds like. It’s like your usual search, but instead of typing the words out, you use your voice to search for the desired product without lifting a finger. That’s great because it helps users find the right product quickly, especially if it has a long name.

Now that you understand what voice search is, you might think it sounds more like a gimmick, as it’s much more comfortable to use a keyboard and write down exactly what you think.

While that might be true with a laptop, voice control is still more than just a gimmick. That’s because we’re in a voice revolution right now.

Just think about it. More and more people are buying home assistants like Google Home and Amazon Echo for comfort.

So why not make it that comfortable in your store? Here are some other benefits of implementing it on your site:

  • Convenience: One of the most obvious reasons for adding voice searches is that it offers comfort for all users. That’s because most of us can speak faster than we can write, especially when typing on the phone.
  • Great for Mobile Searches: Another reason for adding voice control to your online store is excellent for mobile searches. It is convenient for visitors, but it might also help you boost your SEO ranking in the future.

But those are not the primary reasons for adding voice search to your eCommerce website. That’s because of two trends. First, it’s no surprise that the traffic is going mobile as time passes. A study found out that about 55% of the searches are mobile nowadays; besides, for many people, typing on a mobile phone is a bit awkward, so a third of them use voice search. Thus, implementing voice search in your online store should be a no-brainer.

Taking Voice Search to The Next Level

While implementing voice search in your store gives you an unfair advantage, why not take it up a notch?

Instead of limiting the voice recognition technology to just searches, why not give customers complete control? With it, your customers can find your product, add it to their cart, and complete their order without taping anything.

That can provide much more comfort to your customers and make you stand out from the crowd of average eCommerce stores. But apart from being extremely easy to use, buying from your store will be faster. Not only can you say what you want faster than you can write, but you won’t have to search much more.

Voice search is more than just a gimmick in the eCommerce world! It’s an opportunity to stand out and give your users a better experience, helping you grow revenue.

If you can, add voice search and control to your online store, and enjoy the benefits of this technology.
