God Knows I'm Good (I Really Do)

Introduction

This is just a humorous observation on my situation on Vocal at the moment.

Before we hit the main part, let me state, as I always have, that Vocal is the best publishing platform I have ever been on and know of. If you know of one better, let me know.

I tried Medium, but that seemed more about chasing subscribers, and every so often, a new one comes up, and then fades.

I have been on Vocal for five years, and its consistency is demonstrated by the panic that I see if it drops out for half an hour.

It Seems I Am The Devil To Vocal

I am the one who points out the faults and possible fixes with Vocal. This caused many Vocal Creators to get annoyed with me, defending Vocal, saying they work hard and need a holiday, and I should shut up.

I see a lot of issues because I publish so much and so frequently, and that is another criticism that I receive from some creators.

Here is a piece I wrote a while back about problems with stats and links to issues that have not been resolved:

There was a story where I was told that Vocal were just closing my tickets without even responding to me. If I find it, I will screenshot it and share it. I have emailed Justin, but have not had an acknowledgement from him or the people he may have passed it on to.

One of Vocal's problems is that they have a great idea, but then let it drop. While I didn't agree with starting the Discord community, that at first was used, but now the Vocal moderators are conspicuous by their absence there.

The Vocal Creator Chat was brilliant and inclusive but that seems to have died a death:

I suggested a separate system status page years ago, in case of system attacks, and finally they put one in place, although it is not accurate, as I and others have lots of outstanding issues:

Despite all this, Vocal is still a brilliant platform and I still continue to promote them where I can. The more readers we get, the more coffee money we have. I have brought 58 new users to Vocal via the Ambassadors program:

Since my issues with being unable to post, and my reads dropped to 500 a month, they are now back to a healthier 1,400 a month.

That works out at roughly eight dollars a month, and I'd rather have $5 of reads than a Top Story, but I would rather have both. Some great money memes to make you smile, although some of the quoters are not good people.

I do feel that Vocal wants me to be quiet, and it seems their plan is to completely ignore me and hope I will go away. Bad news, guys, I have been here for five years and have no intention of going anywhere.

The thing is, I know that I am good, and every piece I write (well, almost every piece) is appreciated by others.

I asked Vocal why this did not get a Top Story. They said it was not very good. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the email, but not to worry, a lot of others agreed with me:

Conclusion

I love being on Vocal and love the community. I know there are issues and they may not be resolved, but I wish Vocal would talk to us more.

I started this as humour, and some of it is funny, but it turned into a sort of journal confessional.
