For 20 Years This Baby Challenged Doctors With His Rare Disorder

More than 20 years ago – in 1993, something truly special happened in southeastern Australia.

An infant was born with a very strange disorder.
He came into the world and was placed on his mother’s bosom, and his parents breathed heavily.

There was a great deal of shock in his appearance.
However, their love for their newborn was enough to overcome that.

Their son, Tom Tennant, was born with a very unique circumstance that gave him the charm of Benjamin Button.

He had enough skin.

Just imagine you are an infant, but you happen to have enough skin to fit a healthy 5-year-old.

Baby Tomm Tennent was born with a unique condition that shocked everyone seriously.
The doctors were very surprised at what Tomm Tennent looked vividly like at birth. Even Tomm’s father couldn’t believe it.

Before he was born, the ultrasound already showed something very different, causing her parents to debate whether or not to keep him.

Their journey since then has been filled completely with difficult times and intense troubling emotions. Now if we fast forward our days, just what you can cry in shock at how Tomm is now.

Fortunately, Tomm’s father made the right decision. “We kind of talked about it amongst ourselves, decided what was meant to be, and we went with it,” said his father, Geoff Tennent.

No tests or tests could be done to determine the severity of Tomm's condition.

When his parents saw him for the first time in the delivery room, they were in complete shock. Mixed emotions overwhelmed Tomm’s mum Debbie Tennent as she couldn’t believe her eyes when he was placed on the chest.

“My heart came to my throat and twerked a bit, but at the same time it was nice to pick him up and hug him,” she said. Tomm confused the doctors.

There was no cure or solution because the cause was unclear.

Their only hope was that as she grew older, she would naturally grow into her skin and reduce wrinkles.

Investigators finally made an interesting discovery about his condition.

He stayed in the hospital for about two and a half months, which was a very difficult time for the investigators.

Tomm was found to have an excess of Hyaluronic acid in his body(i.e; Noonan syndrome), just like the Shar Pei dogs. But he had more of this stuff than usual.

Studies show that a baby born with Noonan syndrome may have a short neck, with excess skin where the neck joins the shoulders. This can make the neck seem broad and is sometimes called "webbing."

Frequently there are differences in the eyes, including strabismus (cross-eyedness), nystagmus (eye tremors) and very bright blue-green iris.

Interestingly, as Shar Pei age, their levels of this substance decrease and their skin changes. Doctors believed that the same could happen to Tomm.

Dr Andrew Ramsden said Tomm's condition may improve as he gets older. He was right! Tomm's condition did improve over time, the doctor thought.

Tomm faced challenges as a child, you can imagine receiving ridicule, mockery, insults while given abusive nicknames(you can relate) for his unusual appearance and even being abandoned at school.

Although he had some minor physical differences, they were not very serious like that.
He stands out more than when he was born.

It was 30 years since Tomm was born, and it shocked doctors.
We don’t know much about him from social media and Tomm’s current life is a bit of a mystery.

Looking at his Facebook it looks like he and Hannah are happily married, in a place called Frankston, in lower Victoria, Australia. “Life is easy. You make a choice and you don’t look back,” Tom wrote on his Facebook profile.

The arrival of a new baby into the world is an event of joy, but there is also an inherent sense of security for the new arrival.
