In today’s digital world, where the attention span of human beings has reduced to seconds, it is highly challenging for any business to market its product and services effectively to the right customers.

So what can you do to survive in this highly competitive market and ensure your business is consistent and thriving?

Create a Marketing Plan that is simple yet effective in targeting potential clients.

Not everyone is a marketing guru, so how can one create a marketing plan specific to their business?.

Here are ten simple yet powerful steps that will help you build a Market plan specific to your business.

1. Define a specific target

Without a specific goal/target for your business, you are not going anywhere. Visualize what you want your business to look like both in the short term and long run. It can be as simple as selling 1000 products/services within a week to building an empire. A goal that is specific to you, and only you can determine what you want to achieve with your business.

2. Know your Marketing Budget

It is wise to know your marketing budget before determining the most effective platform within the available budget. Not every business has an abundant amount of money to spend on marketing. Knowing your spending limit makes you look for ways that you don’t care for when you have a ton of money.

3. Analyse your current marketing strategy

Look into your strengths before having to change the plan. See what has worked and what didn’t in the past. Which platform created leads, and what is a total waste. What is your current conversion rate?. Knowing the answer to all these will help you in determining the most effective plan.

4. Know what is working for your Competitors

In Marketing, you can never be self-content. Knowing your strength and weakness is not enough. Analyze what strategies your competitors are using and what is working for them. Identify the ways they are attracting leads, converting leads to customers, and building the loyalty of their customers.

5. Spend time identifying your potential customer’s pain points.

Reddit is a great platform to know what your potential customers need from businesses like yours. What are the issues they faced from competitors and improve to attract customers who are not satisfied with your competitors? Knowing customer’s needs helps every business strengthen their product/services to bring in customers and make them loyal to your products.

6. Making effective use of both Internal and External strategies

For an effective plan, you need to streamline your internal and external strategies. Internal strategies include the use of blogs and other social media accounts to collate the email IDs of potential buyers and targeting them using email marketing.

External strategies include running popup ads on social media and attending business fairs etc.

The internal strategy is more effective than external because it is always easy to convert a lead interested in your product than generating a new one.

7. Keep learning and adapt to new marketing trends.

A few years ago, the staple for advertising was a hardcopy sales letter or ad copy. Now the most effective way of advertising is email marketing. Along with email marketing, we can see a rise in social media marketing through Facebook ads, YouTube ads, Instagram and Twitter ads, etc. Not adapting or being slow to adapt will hurt your business badly, limiting your ability to reach a vast number of potential customers.

8. Create a plan

Now you have a robust foundation to create an effective marketing plan. Keep your business target in mind and work backward. Use your strengths and build upon them. Make effective use of the latest marketing platforms within your budget. Build a solid email Id list of potential buyers and target them with compelling email copies. Make customers your primary focus, hang out where your customers share their feedback, interact with them, identify their pain points, and provide your product and services.

9. Analyse the plan and make adjustments

Nothing is permanent in this world. Hence your plan has to change and keep adapting to the changes. Once you have executed the strategy, keep analyzing the same at intervals and see what is working and what needs adjustments. Make those necessary tweaks to the plan.

10. Track your progress

Once you have implemented your new and improved marketing plan, track your progress. Compare the progress with your old data and see if you were able to achieve your target. If you did rejoice, you did a great job. If you were unable to accomplish it, don’t worry it is not the end of the world. Rework on your plan and work towards customers’ needs.

Now you know how important a marketing plan is to a business. Don’t be another failed business because you did not focus on marketing your product effectively. Only by understanding your customer’s wants and needs can a business thrive. So spend time getting to know your customer and build a strong base.
