Me, Wifey, and Miley out, during the Snow

Hey It’s EDB, that’s Erik DeSean Barrett, here with just seven glorious days remaining until Christmas. It is truly the most wonderful time of the year, and hopefully this year, we will actually feel it. Anyone remember the old Christmas show; The Year Without a Santa Claus? It is a 1974 stop motion animated Christmas television special produced by Rankin/Bass Productions.

The story is based on Phyllis McGinley's 1956 book of the same name. It is narrated by Shirley Booth (her final acting credit before her retirement from acting) and starring the voices of Mickey Rooney, Dick Shawn, and George S. Irving. It was originally broadcast on December 10, 1974, on ABC. Its a lot to it, a must watch!! nThe moral for me is; the moment the people of Dixsey, at the shout of the mayor realized, snow was coming.

Before then, those fine southern people, had never experienced a white Christmas. I can resonate with this feeling. All my life, I have watched Christmas movies, (Hallmarks) everyone touting about how awesomesauce Christmas is. Bells a ringing, children a singing, all is merry and bright; A bah humbug.

In my 38 years, snow on Christmas has only come once, even then, it was the day after. Is it bad, that I am still dreaming, of a white Christmas?

And even more exiting, the fact I might get it? Zack Taylor, a National Weather Service meteorologist, spoke with The Wall Street Journal, saying..

We’re going to see some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen so far this season, and it’s potentially shaping up to be one of the coldest Christmas Days we’ve had in a while, at least across the Eastern two thirds of the country,

Speaking of the cold, its getting really cold inside Vatican City. Antiabortion activist Frank Pavone was removed from the priesthood, citing his “blasphemous communications on social media” and disobedience of his bishop.

The defrocking of Mr. Pavone, a vocal supporter of the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump, is the latest sign of tension in the Catholic hierarchy over the politics of abortion. Mr. Pavone, head of Priests for Life, has been an especially militant and provocative figure in the antiabortion movement, who once appeared in a video with the body of an aborted fetus apparently on an altar. Mr.Pavone seemed to allude to his dismissal on Twitter, writing:

I happen to agree, not with Mr. Pavone directly, but in theory. I believe this all out assault on women’s rights, is hurting the next generation. It is clouding judgment, making the hard choices, and responses to same, even more difficult. I feel the answer to all of our problems is hiding in plain sight, all we have to do is sit down, and washing things out.

Which brings me to Laundry. The Research, of Mark Sumner, a lecturer focusing on sustainability within the textile, clothing and fashion industry at the University of Leeds’ School of Design. Argues

People are washing their clothes more frequently than they ever did before, According to Energy Star, the average American family does 300 loads of laundry each year. A standard washing machine uses around 20 gallons of water for each load and electric dryers, on average, can use anywhere from 1,800 to 5,000 watts, or about 1.8 to 5 kilowatt hours of electricity per cycle, according to Energy Star.

Choosing more efficient washers and dryers can make a difference for the planet and your wallet. Energy Star certified washing machines generally use about 25 percent less energy and 33 percent less water than regular models. Meanwhile, certified dryers are 20 percent more efficient compared to standard dryers. A household that uses washers and dryers certified by Energy Star could reduce their carbon footprint by more than 400 pounds of CO2 annually, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, which is equal to planting a quarter acre of trees.

So lets bottom line this whole thing. All of us have dreams, hopes, and goals, not just for Christmas, but moving into 2023. May we grab hold to the most important goal of them all. Loving each other, and doing our party to make certain all who call this place home, feel at home.

Until Next Time!!
