NEVER AGAIN
In 1921, Oklahoma had a racially, socially, and politically tense atmosphere. Many servicemen had returned following the end of the First World War in 1918, and the American Civil War was still in living memory, even though it had ended in 1865. Civil rights for African Americans were lacking, and the Ku Klux Klan was resurgent (primarily through the wildly popular 1915 film The Birth of a Nation), a film portrays African Americans (many of whom are played by white actors in blackface) as unintelligent and sexually aggressive toward white women. The film presents the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) as a heroic force necessary to preserve American values and a white supremacist social order.

When the argument is presented, that 2020 was a year of disruption, it will more than likely encounter minimal to no debate. The last twelve to fourteen months has left everyone screaming, When is the world returning to Normal? I must say even my narrow minded lifestyle which at the genesis of this pandemic celebrated the idea of not having to subject myself to the social scene, has slowly begin to switch positions. Now the soon to be husband of a wife, I find myself desiring some of the ways by which we once lived. Just going to a movie, or simply dinner for two on a patio is somewhat like begging for air; but I am not in a hurry to return, because I am not truly sure of what we are returning too?

The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes and safe houses established in the United States during the early to mid-19th century, and used by enslaved African-Americans to escape into free states and Canada. The scheme was assisted by abolitionists and others sympathetic to the cause of the escapees.

It was a Wednesday like none other. The date of February 1, 1865, when then President Abraham Lincoln approved the Joint Resolution of Congress submitting The 13th amendment to the Constitution of these States United. It provides the following.....

Imagination is the ability to produce and simulate novel objects, sensations, and ideas in the mind without any immediate input of the senses. It is also described as the forming of experiences in one's mind, which can be re-creations of past experiences such as vivid memories with imagined changes, or they can be completely invented and possibly fantastic scenes.

The Year was 2017. The month was January. And we were seven days into the new year. Embracing for the launch of the 45th Presidency of these states united. And that was the last time, snow feel in my section of these states untied. It was then that five point three inches fell from the chief executive of the universe. And today some four years and twenty days later, nine days into the 46th Presidency, this time headed by Joe Biden. The head of the universal kingdom decided once again to send me a late Christmas gift? I am so excited, but it seemly like I’m hiding it, because I am curious today why this snow storm occurred? Was it just because the atmospheric temperature is at or below freezing (0 degrees Celsius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit) and there is a minimum amount of moisture in the air? Or was it because the atmosphere is freezing because some of souls of those who occupy it is contributing.

At this moment I find myself searching for words. I am frustrated, I am in a state of numbness, I am borderline rebellious. I remember the stories from my grandma, and em. They’d constantly speak of the two sided tracks. I remember it like it was yesterday, their teaching of the hypocrisy, the double standard, the two faced, self righteous soul of America 🇺🇸. That commentary was always met with jeers. It was thrown to the backs of our minds with the rest of the thoughts we deemed effects of tired old black people who just couldn’t get over the past. But now looking back the question running through my mind is, was it that grandma and em couldn’t get over the past, or was it that the past was still breathing in the now? I think 🤔 its safe to say this question has basically answered itself, which returns me to my initial state of shock.

👋🏾 There, its EDB, thats Erik DeSean Barrett for long. Here for another moment of Thought. It is no secret, since the signing of the emancipation proclamation, that black and brown family are struggling in these states united. They face a plethora of issues many of which has gone unnoticed, and to some degree has been intensified by those who find it profitable to hold certain communities down.
