The Awesomeness of Cell Phones!

How to use your phone in your writing career

In today’s world, technology is everywhere. There are cell phones, computers, laptops, tablets, and e-readers. So much has changed since I was a kid. When I was younger we had ham radios and an Atari game system. Then as I got older the Nintendo arrived on the scene, then the Nintendo DS hand held game system. I never got into anything after the Atari really. I wasn’t much of a gamer.

But when the cell phones arrived on the scene, I got one. Over the years the way I use my cell phone has changed. I use my phone for everything. I would be lost without it.

I use it for talking, texting, reading, my calendar, and as an alarm clock. That was just the beginning. With my unlimited data plan, I have learned that I can learn anything I want using the internet. Most of it is even free.

No more taking expensive college courses. Heck, even I wanted to take college courses I can still do it all over the internet.

This year, 2019, I have started using my phone for something not many would think about. I use it for all my writing research, finding writing prompts, taking notes on things I want to remember, and actually doing the writing process itself.

There is even a journaling app that I have been using. I am writing this article on my phone during my breaks and lunch at work and while relaxing on the couch after dinner.

If you go to the app store on your phone and type in writing apps, or writing prompts, or journaling apps there is a lot for you to choose from.

This allows you to write anywhere and anytime you want. You can get so much more writing in each day.

Are you sitting in a doctor’s waiting area for your appointment?

Maybe you're waiting on a train to pass.

It doesn’t matter where you are doing your waiting, you can use your phone to get some writing done.

You can even download the Microsoft word app free and write in it. Anything you write you can save to Google cloud and access on any device, even your laptop or home computer.

This gives you so much freedom in your writing. No more writing on your laptop or computer at home. No more lugging around heavy equipment and worrying about running out of power. Your phone can always be charged in your car.

Exciting, isn’t it? Try it out yourself. If you don’t have unlimited data it might be worth investing in it.

Not too long ago I upgraded my phone because I was running out of storage and the battery would go dead in under three hours. I was having a lot of problems with it.

So I upgraded to one that doubled my memory and my battery will last me all day long. But the most awesome feature of my phone is the built-in stylist that it came with. I can type much faster and with better accuracy by using it instead of my fingers.

I love it. I love the technology that we have today. It has opened up so many new opportunities for me. I can spend more time doing the things I love (writing and reading) more often.

The awesome thing about reading on my phone is I can download the kindle app on it and every book I buy through Amazon is available to me anywhere I am at any time I want. All on a device that fits in the palm of one hand. I don’t have to lug around big heavy books wherever I go.

I bet the people who invented the first telephone and the first cell phone never imagined all of the different things we can do with our cell phone today.
