Hotter'n a Steam Iron. Content Warning.
The sun beat down like a fist pummeling the land and everything on it. Children ran through sprinklers on lawns; neighborhood swimming pools were warmer than a bath. Sweat dripped from Dale’s brow while he hung the fairy lights around the new deck. Debbie brought him a beer, sweat from the bottle pooling around the lip of the coozie, emblazoned with the letters UGA.

I Live In The Fridge Now
I Live In The Fridge Now The thermometer on the wall of Francesca’s Italian Restaurant read 35.5℃, but inside Anna’s body, it was at least one hundred. At fifty-six, Anna was at the tail end of menopause, a biological phase she could only describe as hosting a private, internal barbecue where she was both the grill and the brisket.

One of the great things about living on the twentieth floor is the views you get. Disconcerting things are the way the buildng sways in high winds, and everyone brings up "The Towering Inferno" especially with the heatwaves we are getting now.

I Audited My Own Thoughts and Found Most of Them Unnecessary...
In the interest of self-improvement, clarity, and whatever passes for accountability these days, we at The Pompous Post decided to conduct a full internal audit. Not of finances, nor productivity… nor of anything useful, but that’s beside the point. We decided to audit our thoughts! Well, one of us did; the other just read it and laughed.

FINGER WALKING
FINGER WALKING Or finger pounding ** Not too many years ago, the phone companies issued yearly phone books. The very thick, heavy books contained names, phone numbers and yes, addresses of the residents within a certain range of miles. Where I lived in Brooklyn, our phone book would list those, not just in my section of Brooklyn, but those in the surrounding areas.

Don’t Shoot the Messenger . Top Story - July 2026.
The weatherman’s smile goes from giddy to demonic while he swipes his hand over the red portion of the map. “Our heatwave continues. This week’s gonna be a real scorcher. Don’t go outside if you can avoid it, and if you do, stay hydrated.”

River Relief
My girlfriend, Lisa and I decided to beat the July Arizona heat by taking a dip in a nearby river. We tried to coordinate our arrival down to the minute, because neither of us wanted to wait around air frying like yesterday's leftovers. I arrived just a hot minute before her – and I do mean HOT.

Poor Cart Parkers. Top Story - July 2026.
I come from a land where the grocery store aisles allow the customers plenty of room to roam. There’s less people in my land, meaning more room to roam. My land is called New Hampshire, and though it is not the least densely populated state in the U.S. and is actually 29th, it’s still scarce with its population. Especially compared to where I live now. California. Los Angeles. A land with narrow aisles in the grocery store.
