Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
THE MINDSETS As a young researcher, just starting out, something happened that changed my life. I was obsessed with understanding how people cope with failures, and I decided to study it by watching how students grapple with hard problems. So I brought children one at a time to a room in their school, made them comfortable, and then gave them a series of puzzles to solve. The first ones were fairly easy, but the next ones were hard. As the students grunted, perspired, and toiled, I watched their strategies and probed what they were thinking and feeling. I expected differences among children in how they coped with the difficulty, but I saw something I never expected.

Welcome to my wacky world… Dementia is a very serious illness. It's not something to be taken lightly. Being the 24/7 caregiver of someone with dementia is a tough job all the way around. But it does have it's humorous side.

**Some dogs like to live life on the edge, this much is true, but the accused, Tia, should have been called Evel after a man who is clearly her icon, Evel Knievel. You see, Tia does not laugh in the face of death; she sprints toward it with abandon, looking at safety and sanity in the rearview mirror. I could list her crimes against common sense, decency, and intelligence all day, good people of the jury, but what good would it do?

I am an absolutely massive fan of comics in all forms, and as such, I've dedicated a significant portion of my time on Vocal to writing about the weird and wacky world of webcomics. Many of these articles were scattered across different communities, but now that Vocal has announced a dedicated "Humor" Community, I wanted to take a moment to create a conclusive list that ties the entire series together (as the "Humor" community was probably where most of these belonged from the start).

As each winter season approaches, as long as one lives in a region where it snows, we remember that first snow fall of the season. Whether joyously or grudgingly, cursing under our breath, we remember.
