Sorry About That Entry
Dearest Chloe,
Iβm sending this from the back of an Uber because the valet area at the country club has been cordoned off as a "neutral zone" by local law enforcement, and I wanted to reach out before you left for the Maldives.
First off, you looked radiant!! The dress was a triumph!! A sight to behold, truly!
Secondly, I want to formally apologize for the seating chart. I know you spent six months meticulously arranging those gold-leaf place cards, but as a Data Science major, I noticed several "efficiency gaps" in your layout. You had everyone seated by family and existing friendships. From a social-growth perspective, thatβs just a closed-loop system. I took the liberty of "shuffling the deck" to encourage some inter-family synergy.
I realize now that "synergy" is a strong word for what happened at Table 12.
I didnβt realize your Aunt Linda and your Dadβs new wife, Tiffany, hadn't spoken since "The Boat Incident" of 2019. I thought putting them together would facilitate a healing dialogue. Instead, it facilitated a projectile-wine situation. I am truly sorry about the linens; apparently, Merlot is very difficult to get out of vintage lace.
Things escalated slightly when I tried to fix the "Mike" situation.
When your Maid of Honor fainted during the appetizers, I knew someone had to step in for the speeches. I went to the head table and told Mike it was his turn. I forgot that there were two Mikes. I intended to grab Mike your brother, but I accidentally tapped "Mike the Repo Man" the plus-one your cousin met at a rest stop three days ago.
In my defense, Repo-Mike is an incredible public speaker. He has a lot of "stage presence."
Iβm sorry he chose that moment to reveal the Groomβs "pre-wedding bachelor party mishap" in Atlantic City. Iβm also sorry he tried to repossess the DJβs sound system halfway through the speech. The transition from "A Toast to the Happy Couple" to "A Legal Notice of Default" was jarring, Iβll admit.
By the time the cake was cut, the social dominoes were falling faster than I could track them.
Because I had used an "optimized" guest list (I cross-referenced your current list with your old high school yearbook to ensure a high nostalgia factor), I accidentally invited three of your ex-boyfriends. I thought it would be a nice "full-circle" moment for you. I didn't realize they had formed a support group. Seeing all three of them doing the Electric Slide with your mother was, in my opinion, a highlight, though your new husband seemed to disagree.
The climax, of course, was the ceremony "clerical error."
Since the officiant was late and I am technically ordained through an app I downloaded during a boring lecture last semester, I stepped in. Iβm sorry I accidentally swapped the vows. I was trying to keep things "modern and non-binding" to reduce pressure. I didnβt realize that under state law, the way I phrased the "mutual asset agreement" technically means you are now legally married to the venueβs catering manager, and your husband is legally the owner of four hundred pounds of cocktail shrimp.
We can probably fix that with a few forms.
Overall, I think the "chaos" the guests are describing was actually just "unfiltered honesty." Your wedding wasn't just an event; it was an emotional centrifuge. People walked away with secrets revealed and lives changed. Isn't that what great art is supposed to do?
Iβve left your wedding gift on the gift table. Itβs a book on Conflict Resolution. I thought it might be timely.
Have a wonderful honeymoon! Let me know if you want me to handle the seating chart for the divorce proceedings... Iβve already got a few ideas on how to optimize the "Side A vs. Side B" dynamic.
Best wishes,
Sarah
