Title: CEREBRAL POLLY

Genre: Comedy

Logline: A 20 something year old woman navigates her strange life, alongside her crazy family, while having Cerebral Palsy which makes life not go as smoothly as it should!

Characters:

POLLY:

Late 20’s. A young eccentric woman with Cerebral Palsy, obsessed with taxidermy, moving into her first home. Trying to live her own life and navigate her adulthood with an annoying mother to contend with. Polly just wants to be independent but soon realises her life doesn’t run as smoothly as she hoped it would. She wants to lead a normal life without any hassle or bother but unfortunately, circumstances seem to get in the way. She is discovering what it means to be herself and how the world isn’t always black and white. The more unusual the more unique and better equipped for life she is. She starts to learn this through her journey in the series.

MUM:

Means well. A loving mother that wants to do the best for her daughter but forgets to stand back and let Polly lead her own life. She must deal with her daughters’ eccentric ways and sort everything out. She wants what’s best for her daughter, even though she knows times are hard for Polly and she often feels smothered. Through the series, mum will realise what it’s like to live through her eyes and begin to understand exactly what it’s like for her.

NAN:

A fun, happy-go-lucky person, who takes a different approach to Polly’s independency. An eccentric woman herself, she isn’t bothered about discussing sex and TMI subjects. She acts younger than she is. A woman with lots of experience of life because she has lived through it all. Nan knows how difficult Polly is finding life but can also empathise with her own daughter, Polly’s mum. She often gravitates towards her granddaughter’s way of thinking, which often gets them both into more trouble.

NEIGHBOUR:

Nosy, older woman. A conservative background, never happy with what those around her are doing. The neighbour wants to know everyone else’s business, and always has an opinion about it. Her opinions on politics and the way of the world are behind the times and she sometimes bashes heads with Polly, who she disapproves of. She may seem cold on the exterior but underneath her she slowly realises that once she was like this when she was younger and begins to find herself warming to Polly.

Synopsis:

Polly moves into her first apartment with the help of her mum who she doesn’t really want to be there. Even though Polly now lives on her own, her mother is constantly around the house but when she isn’t there Polly always manages to find herself in stupid predicaments. For example, Polly tries to get dressed but gets stuck in her clothes, her head trapped in the wrong hole. She tries to call her mum for help and they eventually resolve the situation.

Another time a mysterious package arrives at her door, revealing that she has mistakenly bought a dead squirrel online, having thought it would be stuffed. She then calls her mother for help again and they find a patch of grass outside to bury the animal, not knowing that the site shouldn’t be disturbed. They both get told off by Polly’s neighbour and run off back into the apartment in stitches of laughter, Polly is incredibly embarrassed.

Polly meets her nan for a drink later and tells her about the ordeal. She roars with laughter and wants to help Polly to finish the job. Polly and nan come back and sneakily bury the animal, avoiding the neighbour by going at night in black clothing. However, Mum pulls up to see Polly and Nan, unknown to them, and sees them carrying out the crime. The disturbance and arguing outside causes the neighbour to come outside and find a squirrel sized lump buried in the ground
