I am an absolutely massive fan of comics in all forms, and as such, I've dedicated a significant portion of my time on Vocal to writing about the weird and wacky world of webcomics. Many of these articles were scattered across different communities, but now that Vocal has announced a dedicated "Humor" Community, I wanted to take a moment to create a conclusive list that ties the entire series together (as the "Humor" community was probably where most of these belonged from the start).

This list is broken down into two sections: Genre Collections and Themed Collections. The Genre Collections highlight comic artists who specialize in a specific genre (e.g., Dark Humor, Slice-of-life). The Themed Collections focus more on niche topics (e.g., Animals, Witches, Pokemon).

Genre Collections

"Universally Likable" Webcomics

If you're unfamiliar with the wonderful world of online webcomics, "Universally Likable Webcomics" is a great starting point. As the name implies, I tried to create a list of webcomics that had "mass appeal" - ones that were earnestly funny but still able to connect with larger audiences.

Wholesome Webcomics

"Wholesome Webcomics that are almost as good as therapy" was actually the very first entry into this series. The series is a sampling from webcomic artists who create sweet webcomics that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

Slice of Life Comics

"Sweet and Silly Slice of Life Comics" is another (usually) wholesome collection of comics, but with a slightly different style. For the unfamiliar, "Slice-of-Life" is a genre that explores the little moments in our day-to-day lives as humans. This type of content usually thrives by playing on relatability: it's the kind of comic you'll want to share with a friend or significant other and say "look, this is totally us."

Dark Humor Comics

"Delightfully Dark Webcomics for my fellow Weirdos" is a collection that focuses on webcomic artists who are great at dark humor. One distinction I make in this collection is that I intended to pick out artists who made "delightfully dark" comics - meaning, comics that were gory or extreme for the purposes of shock value were likely not included in the collection. I think there is a space for "undoubtedly dark" comics on the internet, but that just was not the intention of this particular collection.

Raunchy Webcomics

"Webcomics to make you laugh and make your mother blush" is a short series that highlights three artists who don't shy away from dirty humor. I'll specify that this is not a collection of erotic comics (though those certainly exist on the internet) but rather a few comics that I personally love because of their queer-inclusive, sex-positive nature. Still, I would still label this article as NSFW - Not Safe For Work.

Fatherhood and Parenting Webcomics

"Fantastic Fatherhood Comics" is a special Father's Day collection that highlights four different webcomic artists who write about the ups and downs of parenthood.

Themed Collections

Webcomics about Witches

"Wonderfully Witchy Webcomics" is a Halloween-themed collection that showcases 10 different comics about witches. While it doesn't showcase specific webcomic artists (like many of my collections do), eagle-eyed readers might notice that some of the artists from my "delightful dark," "Slice of life" and "Raunchy" webcomic series make a reappearance.

Webcomics about Pokemon

"21 Preposterous Pokemon Webcomics" is (at the time of writing) my most popular webcomic collection - which I would have never expected, given that it is a perhaps more niche series. However, as a fellow Pokemon nerd, this was also perhaps one of my favorite collections to put together.

Webcomics about Mario

"16 Marvelous Mario Comics" was my attempt to repeat the joy I had in creating the Pokemon series. However, if I'm being frank, it was a lot more difficult to find Mario comics that met my standards of humor than it was to find Pokemon comics (which is why there are only 16 comics, instead of 21). Maybe playing Pokemon just makes you a funnier person?

Webcomics about Animals

"Animal Webcomics that Don't Bite" is a collection of webcomics all about... you guessed it... animals! I am a massive animal lover and a webcomics enthusiast so this one was an absolute joy to put together. I think the vibes of this article are most similar to the "Wholesome" webcomics genre collection, and it was quite difficult to not repeat artists for this collection.

That's all folks...

As I publish more webcomic features, I will continue to update this document, so feel free to occasionally check back in.

Please, let me know in the comments below if you would like to see a specific type of webcomic feature. Also, feel free to share any comic recommendations (any genre - I love them all)!

And as always, thank you so much for reading.
