"The Date"

By Lady VeePublished 6 years ago • 2 min read

" The quintessential of class and elegance" is what I read off the bottle of a Pomerol Merlot. I had been waiting for while now and I think I got to know that bottle better then the blind date I was suppose to be on, I hadn't lost hope yet. The more and more I poured a glass the better I felt about being stood up. Don't get me wrong I like a good bottle of wine but this one stuck out. Well, it had been the fifth blind date I've been on in the last three months and it was a unique request of the other party that I order this particular bottle. He had said "it would change my life forever." Well it did, I was sloshed by the time I drank that bottle down to nothing and the meal I ordered wasn't enough to soak up all that rich dark flavor and yet there as a nutty sweet after taste and it made me smile at each sip. Now at this time I had had more of a interesting conversation with the waiter then I had with myself. He had asked me question which I thought a little strange but being a ex-waitress he was just doing his job. At this point I wasn't sure if I should wait longer and order dessert or just grab the check and leave. The waiter looked at me with a concerned face while he waited for my answer. I looked at that bottle and decided to order one more. So as I waited I was wondering why this jerk-off would do this to me. I was so mad or maybe I was that drunk I kept picking at the label on the bottle the waiter had left just in case, and kept thinking about my blind date and what could have happen to him. At this point I didn't even care if he got hit by a bus. I think the waiter felt bad for me but he was also really nice, so I didn't mind him staring at me, at this point id go out with anyone. I found myself now watching the waiter as he served others and wondered about him. He was of course young, good looking and he had a look that well I hadn't noticed before. He looked like a young Clint Eastwood with a dash of Tom Hardy and well he was beautiful. But I knew he wouldn't go for anyone like me and how many woman do you think he picks up in a night? It made me think back at when I use to waitress, yes those where wild times. I hadn't realized I had drank another bottle, whole bottle, to myself when the waiter again asked if I needed anything else. I said "no" in the most polite, non drunken way I could have said it and told him to bring the check. He said his shift was over and that someone else would bring it to me. That made me feel sad because in all the time waiting he had given me a good time even tho it seemed I was stood up. I quickly gave him a tip and said "thank you, you where the best date I had had in three months even tho I got stood up tonight, thank you " and he smiled back and said "it was a pleasure, hopefully the wine changed my life forever."
