written on sand and carved in stone..

a moral story

By tawfiq khanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Two friends were walking through a desert. at one point , they got into an argument , and one friend slapped the other one in anger .

The one who was slapped didn't say anything , instead , he bent down and wrote on the sand : " today , my best friend hurt me. "

They continued walking until they reached an oasis. while they were bathing in the water , the friend who had been slapped started to drown . the same friend who had slapped him earlier jumped in and saved his life.

After recovering , the rescued friend carved on a stone : " today , my best friend saved my life."

The other friend was surprised and asked , "when i hurt you , you wrote it on sand . but now that i saved you, you carved it on stone , why??"

He smiled and replied :" when someone hurts us , we should write it on sand , so the wind of forgiveness can erase it ,but when someone does something kind , we should carve it on stone, so it is never forgotten."
