Without Love, Nothing Else Matters

Why is it that people act the way they do? Why do certain types of people hate or dislike others just because they are in a different class of society? Why do people judge you because of the mistakes you have made or the person you choose to love? These are just some of the questions you might ask yourself when dealing with other people, I know I have. It is important to remember that not all people are as nice and goodhearted as they may seem and that not everyone will treat you as an equal. People are going to judge you, look and even talk down on you and people will hate you just because of who you are or the things that you believe.

Considering recent events, I would like to share my thoughts with you on a subject that has been in the news for weeks and has created, within certain groups of people, a shit storm. What follows may offend some of you but I am not going to apologize, just don’t read any further, that should solve that problem. In June of 2015 the United States Supreme Court ruled that not allowing same sex couples to marry was violating their constitutional rights, therefore legalizing gay marriage in the United States, which in my opinion was a long time coming. This was met opposition and harmony. For many it finally meant that they could legally marry their same sex partners of years. A long and drawn out battle for marriage equality had finally been settled. Or had it? Still many Americans believe that homosexuality is an unforgivable sin and that God hates gay people while other blame gay people for all that is wrong and bad things happening in our country today. When asked why they believe the why they do their response is because God said so! If God told you to go jump off a bridge, likely to your death, would you do it?

People have, for as long as I can remember, used religion as their reason to show hate towards the LGBTQ community. It has for many years been the topic of many debates. However, you see it there are still people who are so old fashioned that they cannot see the bigger picture. Using the religion card as the reason you are against gay marriage is like a butcher refusing to sale you pork. His reason because god said not to eat swine (or shellfish for that matter). You may say well that is different. How is that different? Why do you get to pick and choose which part of the bible you believe and don’t believe? Well, the bible says……oh enough with the bible says babble. The bible says a lot of things and too often people pick and choose which parts they want to believe to fits what they want. It is time that we, as humans, work together to stop the hate and to spread more love. We need to unite and come together and show all the haters that when you have love, anything is possible.

For far too long religion has been used in a way that is unjust and gives people reason to show hate. It is high time that we put a stop to hatred based on religion. Everyone has the right to love and be loved by whomever they choose. It has never been about religion or who’s right or who’s wrong. It has always been, and always will be, about love. So remember that love is the key. Without love, nothing else matters.
