Nigerian musician D'Prince is a successful musician, producer, and record label executive who saw his fame skyrise in the 2010s with hit songs like "Goody Bag", "Take Banana", "OYO (On Your Own)" and more. But then in 2019, he launched his record label and management company Jonzing World and just like that, his own music career seemed to come to a halt.

Now, during a new interview with Hip TV, D'Prince is revealing what really happened and why his artistes like Rema and Ruger are the reason he stopped his own music. Here's what D'Prince had to say.

D'Prince

Speaking about why he stopped releasing music, D'Prince said:

D'PRINCE: I think that is one of the most frequently asked questions I get - "What's up D'Prince? How far? You don fashi us?" - but then, it's just before you do something, you have to make sure you do it well basically. So at the time, the promise I made to myself even way before I became an artiste, was that as long as I'm successful, once I'm out there, I'm going to share my platform with as much people as I can share it with. Be you a producer, an artiste, whatever, I just wanted to share my platform.

So at the time I decided to start the Jonzing World, I was working on Rema already at that time. I was also recording my project that I was supposed to put out at that time. But then, just following and seeing all the work I had to put in to make sure that the people I've brought on [Rema, Ruger, Gdzilla] to see their ship sail, trust me it's not something I could juggle together at that time. So it wasn't like I left music as an artiste, cuz I'm always in the studio. My office is a studio basically. I'm always in the studio audio managing.

So for me, I wouldn't say I left but it's a good question because I also have a surprise coming this year.
