What is love today?

A short article about love in today's world (original)

When you think of the word "Love", what calls to mind? Kissing? holding hands? maybe, commitment? Things have changed as it pertains to one's thought on love. Back then, love was kind, love was pure, love meant respect. Of course not many were lucky enough to find it but for those who did and are still hanging on to their love, congrats! You have officially made the world a jealous place. Men back then could be described as "old souls", the very "romantic type."

Nowadays, love is like that narrow path to heaven, a needle hole, It's very hard to reach and very hard to find. Why? Well, the men of today are absolutely no match for the men of yesterday or should I say the men with old souls. The men of today when asked what do they think of the word "Love" don't give an answer that's even remotely close to the answer that the old souls would give. They think of love as "Casual Sex", "Someone willing to cook for them wearing a crop top and underwear."

The men of today have become so wrapped up in their very own fictional world that they have completely lost the true meaning of the word "Love." It is a shame really. Nowadays, women have to be a little cold hearted if they don't want to become as a human sex doll or robot. We have to find other ways to express our love. Some of us turn to animals for emotional support because the men of today no longer had the concept of what love is, at least not as much as the old souls did. What happened? What in the evolution of men happened?!

With this I suppose we can't complain when we look at the increasing members of the LGBTQ+ communities because if it's not animals, then it's our very own tangible reflection. Where did all the good men go? Is there a portal that we don't know about? Did the old souls fail to educate the men of today of how important the L word is?

According to Radhanath Swami, "We see the power of love manifest before our eyes between lovers, friends and family. But the source, the essence, the fullest manifestation of love's power is love the souls, the supreme souls, or God"

I don't know how many of us attend or grew up in church but, the first love we have ever received was from God, then our parent who learnt to love us through God's love. Our parents are the sun, we are the seed, they are responsible for nurturing us in love, and showing us how to love others.

So you see, it's all connected somewhere, and chin is only as strong as it's weakest link. My advice to the men of today is that you need to go out, find that weak link and fix it because this isn't working. We need to start making some changes, we need you to stop thinking of us women as toys. And as Aritha Franklin said in her hit single 'Respect' , "....All I'm asking is for a little respect when you gets home."

And as for all the old souls left out there, please stop hiding, you are very much needed here, way more than you can imagine. Let's all be reminded that we all have souls and souls need love, real love. A love that exceeds casual sex, mini skirts, chubby thighs and plastic surgeries. Love should be kind, love should be patient, love should be accepting, love should be free and most of all, love should feel safe.
