Nigerian singer Tems is well known for her signature voice and infectious music, but last year with the release of her latest music videos, "Me & U" and "Not an Angel", Tems brought out another side of her for us to see - Tems, the dancer.

In the music videos, Tems really goes all out with her dancing, more than we'd ever seen prior to those moments, and as expected the fans and general public were very surprised to see Tems dancing the way she was upon seeing the video. Now, during a new interview with The Beat 99.9FM, Tems is finally speaking about her dancing, and responding to those who had negative things to say about it. Here's what Tems had to say about her dancing.

During the interview when asked about people's shocked and mixed reactions to her dancing, Tems said:

TEMS: You know the thing with dancing? Let me tell you something. I've been dancing since I was like maybe 15, but I've been doing it in my room. And I've been in many dancing competitions - all which I lost. I lost all of them, and it made me really feel like man why can't I dance? No, I must be able to dance by force! There should be nothing I shouldn't be able to do. You get what am I saying?

So I don't care if it looks weird to you, this is what I've been doing since. I should embrace myself. I don't care if it looks awkward okay? That's me! And it's not because of anything, it's not because of anyone. I've been doing it since. I've been doing it at my shows, it's because I'm more known that you're now noticing "wow, she's dancing".

I've been doing it since. I was always dancing. It's just that now you know me, and you're paying more attention.
