Light the Spirit of Winter. Top Story - December 2025.
The winter season often holds bittersweet nostalgic memories. In the Southern hemisphere, locals will recall long winter days and a BarB at the beach, but in the Northern hemisphere, the ghosts of Christmas past are released during the longest nights before solstice. For many, 'tis the season of Anhedonia. The lack of interest, enjoyment or pleasure is a common symptom of many mental health conditions.

Easin' into the Season. Top Story - December 2025.
The Holiday Season is upon us. Thanksgiving is barely out of the way, and the shops have transitioned from Black Friday sales right into Christmas sales. The local radio stations have been playing carols for about the same length of time. Neighborhood lighting competitions are well underway. Its a typical December here in the good ol' USA.

Traditions. Honorable Mention in The Ritual of Winter Challenge. Top Story - December 2025.
I was never much of a fan of christmas, the death of family members and funerals leaks over all the memories. I was young when it happened, nobody taught me how to grieve. It was always just a "they're with god now," and "my condolences." It's not like I was close with my grandparents, they lived far away and I rarely ever saw them. My dad's mom left us on my brother’s birthday and her funeral was December 24th, that was my first ever green christmas. Five years later, my mom’s dad passed away on December 24th. So, as I said before, death and funerals were my biggest memory about christmas, since I was quite young.

Winter Was Storytime Growing Up As A Child . Honorable Mention in The Ritual of Winter Challenge. Top Story - December 2025.
While growing up in my family, there were lots and lots of stories. Stories from children's books were read, mostly at bedtime, and there were stories told year-round. Stories that weren't written. Stories that were very old and taught a lesson or told of why things are the way they are.

Lani’s Acorn. Top Story - December 2025.
When I was young and Christmas rolled around I would watch “It’s a wonderful Life”. They would pretty much give it in every channel and I would end up seeing it multiple times. It’s a great movie with a heartwarming message of our own value. Or at least the value we have and don’t even know.

Never The Same Again . Top Story - November 2025.
How many times have you gone somewhere one month or one year apart and seen that things have changed? How many people have you seen change in a small lapse of time? I know you’ve seen many. Some people don’t want to believe that change can happen fast because it has never happened to them. let me say that it’s normal; not everyone wants or needs change in their life.

Giving Thanks in 2025. Top Story - November 2025.
My Thanksgiving began at 3:44 AM. Not because there were things to prepare for dinner, etc. but because one of my dogs needed desperately to go outside. I got out of our cozy, warm bed, slipped my jeans and shoes on and out we went into the 28-degree morning.
