The Vocal Blue-Pencil Forum (via Facebook)
And the other awesome groups for Vocal on Facebook!
Hello, Vocal fam! So, perusing through a daily article or two, I realized through learning of a new Vocal support group(below) and through my own published and unpublished works——sometimes I make mistakes. Okay, sometimes I make a lot of mistakes! I don’t usually like to edit my own work. Usually I will skim over it once or twice, and be so exited to publish, I’d miss at least a couple of things!
And sometimes I don’t realize these errors until AFTER I publish! Oh, the horror!
I got the idea from this article:
And I saw there was not yet a group of support for Vocal creators/writers who need beta readers and editors to look over their work to check for errors, grammar issues and in general-- anyone looking for general advice and constructive criticism.
What better place to look than within our own Vocal community?
This group can be a place of refuge for anyone unsure of the progress they have made, self-conscious of their content or their subject matter and also if there is any errors-- spelling, grammar or otherwise. Only respectful, supportive constructive criticism is allowed!
Ever I started up on my own on Vocal, I have sensed a huge supportive link to the different perspectives, stories, communities——and to be able to reach other further within this platform, I feel can be very beneficial and helpful to all writers. New start up writers, professional writers, artists and younger creators—-we can all find ways to support and help our fellow members—-and even beyond that, to our friends and acquaintances.
I just started this group today, but here is a couple of key focus points for the forum!
First here is the link:
- Anyone who wants to read for fun and receive and give basic advice is welcome! Please advertise yourself on the forum if you are interested! PM will be a good segue of communication to collaborate projects/articles, general opinion and advice and just a way to share your work with those who want to read!
- Beta readers and editors that strictly want to go over articles and stories for grammatical and spelling errors, structure and general writing tips, please come on board and let everyone know your skills! Whether you are professional or a novice editor, please be aware this is a FREE service you provide for your fellow Vocal members and writers. This is a community driven project that can truly help the diverse and growing communities within Vocal be more expressive, determined, inspired and confident! Boost up your fellow writers!
- If you have an unpublished story that is unfinished or finished, you may post a brief summary of the article/story to see who is available to look over it. The more people join the group and use it, the less time it will take to find help! Please share!
- Always be helpful, constructive, kind and respectful! Any rudeness and overtly negative language will NOT be tolerated!
- NO stealing! This should be a given, but please---use your own work and never steal anyone's ideas, characters or writing without their permission!
- This is also a general Vocal forum to share your published work and promote yourself or other creators you have enjoyed!
