Guts and Glory

Earlier this year, when I was still residing in California and practicing stand-up comedy amongst peers, I made a joke that Kim Kardashian should run for President of the USA. Yes, I definitely think that Americans would vote her in; She's the only female presidential nominee that would gain the respect of Americans, why? Because we like to be entertained and even more so by good looking people with a lot of power and popularity. They are our superheroes, the us who we could never be while also wanting to live in their world. This is the biggest Reality Show of 2025, DT back in the White House. He left his term in 2020, with a whole lot of drama (Jan. 6th) and began again with drama in the courts (34 indictments) I mean, it's all over the media, we are all sucked into the drama of the most unusual suspect to be ruling over the free world.

"Aunty Kam"

Kamala Harris was a normal, down-to-earth person who chose to live a life of service as a Prosecutor for the people, a DA, an AG and the VP on her way to the highest office and one that she was worthy of. An office that she earned... She likes to work, she says, "we like hard work and when we fight, we win!" She fought on that campaign trail... She sure did. I doubt that she slept... How on earth did DT even keep up at 78 years old? His rambling speeches that lasted for hours as if no one was in the room but himself and a mirror, talking to different people, "they said they want me to speak, I speak each time, I don't say the same thing..." I mean, I can only last about 5 minutes into any of his speeches without feeling sorry for him or bursting out into laughter. Do not get me wrong, I don't have any hatred in my heart for the guy, I just think it's amazing how confidence, arrogance and that famous, "fake it till you make it" mentality wins, each and every time. I've heard people say he's a renegade, Americans want the odd ball with balls, who dares to be different. If Kamala Harris had balls (and not ovaries) I'm pretty sure, with her record, she would be in the White House as the President today. She has guts and glory and I don't see her as a looser at all.

I sat and I waited quietly for months, listening intently to hear what I wanted to hear and to see what I wanted to see and the truth is that, it's a mess. Politics is messy, no matter who is running. All the qualified and influential folks in the world like the Obama's and Oprah campaigned for her. She had the pop stars and rappers, she even had conservative Republicans, why didn't the vote show up in the numbers donated? I mean, she was record-breaking in the amount of money raised in such a short period of time. 107 glorious days. The "boys club" added Elon Musk at the 19th hour and I truly believe that swayed the voters. Money talks and not even the 'Swifties' could stop 'em!

Was she shy? Was she worried about not being "black" enough? Everyone wanted to hear her do some interviews right away! My Trump-supporting acquaintances say it's not about identity politics, does DT know that? Of course it is, this is America, it's all about identity here! The presumption of ethnic barriers or whatever it is and the suitability of who should run this country, where they are from, who their family is, how to pronounce their names... It makes me feel sick that a person cannot win on intellect, strong moral values, joy, self-empowerment, women empowerment, basically all the things that matter to women or like-minded individuals. I'm proud of her and I think that she would've made a solid President. It's always a risk, isn't it? We don't know what we'll really get, we aren't sure if their promises are truths, or lies they believe and want us to believe... The Senate is red- that and Project 25 rumors and whisperings, no matter how distanced DT and JD claim to be from it, both those realities alone are enough to send me weeping.

If women are angry because of abortion bans as ridiculous as the one in FL at 6 weeks, good luck men of the world. I'm definitely being extra cautionary to the umpteenth degree who I let into my life now in the occasion that I unbeknownst to myself at 6 weeks pregnant am forced to become a Mother, as my only option. The things that we take for granted in this country, shaking my head. The more rights we loose as people, whether as women or as transgendered, the more we begin to resemble the countries who never had those rights to begin with. Florida and TX didn't want to become sanctuary states for those seeking abortions... Just contemplating a woman having to be in that situation, to "flee," to get medical attention aka healthcare because of a miscarriage or anything resembling an abortion is the most sexist, segregationist, misogynist thing I've ever heard of. A man would never go for a mandate that limited his sexual organs in any way... What exactly is "their" vision for us? Handmaid's Tale here we come!

There are a lot of people who are mad at each other today and every day because they feel like they just can't win and it must be because of someone else... Someone in a different position than I am, someone who is of a different gender than I am may have it easier... The list goes on and on because the fear of the unknown is akin to the misuse of power and everyone is fighting to be seen, heard, respected, loved even for just being who they are and for believing that what is possible for you, can and should be possible for me too. We aren't going to be able to build on tolerance with DT and JD in office, we've seen what they did to the Haitian population in Ohio and the Venezuelans in Colorado, in 2020 it was BLM and AAPI hate... We are going to be taught to hate and hurt each other to levels that only show how much we hate ourselves and that is the most disheartening prospect for the next four years- an even more divided America. It is truly up to us what part we'll play in this great, big, Reality Show 2025.
