So AMC is doing a singles event for the movie one night only and I have feelings.

One night only is a romantic comedy where two strangers connect on the single night each year when pre-marital sex is legal. In typical rom com style there's problems/mishaps, lessons and a bigger story.

Now while I love the idea of having singles events at the movies, but I also see some possible problems. It could also be a really good thing; I just see issues or hick ups. Let's get into it.

First problem or question is are they going to stop people already dating or in a relationship into the event? How would they even check? Couples will see an opportunity for a fun night out and not pay attention to the singles aspect. Singles want a way to just be with other singles because we don't have a way to just be around other singles. Those two expectations will clash. While the couples wouldn't care that they're surrounded by singles but they may care if someone hits on their partner. Singles rely on honesty and trust when it comes to events like this. AMC can't really verify relationship status. People who have partners can change the atmosphere. It will make the singles feel uncomfortable in showing interest in someone and approaching someone at the event.

I wonder if there is expectations and opportunity to connect or it's just a marketing gimmick. Will there be a chance for us to mingle before or after the movie without feeling rushed to get in or out of the theater? It already takes courage to approach people without feeling rushed by clean-up crews. There should be a mixers so the clean up crew will know to give the singles some time to talk.

The other problem is there's not a whole lot of information about it out there. The only way I found out about it was through the events tab on the AMC app. It's not advertised anywhere. Also there isn't a lot of events like this out there. I don't know what this event is going to be like. I wish that they would put more information out there like on their website or google. It will be a reality that singles will be in a minority at our own event if there isn't more information put out there. I don't even know if it's going to be at all AMCs.

Another thing that concerns me is will there be more women than men there. Not that I mind being around all women but if I'm wanting to find a man to date at a singles event that maybe a problem. Or what if there is no straight single men?

Also what if the people were there just to watch the movie? That would be less offensive than someone being rude. I would offer my Instagram then if they want it they could see my vibe and slide into the DMs when ready.

There is a few good things about this event. At least AMC is trying to do a fun singles event. At least they are trying to solve the issue of how to meet other single. At least it's the weekend and at a well-known place that isn't just in one city. They aren't having it in all AMCs though.

I hope a lot of single people come to this and I hope some of them are straight single men. It's important for single people to have safe and fun ways to meet people who are also single.

So tell me would you go? Should this be a regular thing at single comedies and rom coms? Should all AMC do this? Should there be singles events for single fans other style of movies like horror?
