The Odd Couple Dating Site
Venture Valentino's Island - Destined To Find Love
"Welcome, Everyone"
I want to introduce myself to all of you wonderful people; my name is Lucy Valentino. Yes, I purchased the island and worked with my partner Sheldon on our dating app.
"The Odd Couple" was designed to allow us to realize that not always what we wish for is meant to be. (Chuckle, Chuckle with the crowd)
"Valentino Island was founded 75 years ago by my grandparents. It is surrounded by amazing beautiful water, sandy beaches with flowing palm trees."
As you can see above, it is purely a beautiful island.
Now Sheldon is handing out brochures, and the itinerary will also be included. When you arrive, one of the events will be a meet and greet, so everyone can mingle and get to know each other.
"Does anyone have any questions?"
"The person in the back corner."
Yes, I have read the brochure and was wondering if there is a refund if we do not find our true love.
Laughter throughout the room.
"Now I understand we are all going for the same reasons, yet you may or may not find your match; on a good note, it is a beautiful vacation, lots to do, and I can guarantee you will make some fantastic friends."
"The Odd Couple is named to open your minds to different attractions you probably never knew you had for others."
" If there are any other questions, Sheldon and I will be here to help you; please help yourself to a coffee or tea and a few of the tropical snacks we have for you."
"Hope we see everyone soon as we sail away on an adventure to find love, happiness and much more."
Honestly, I have never been more excited in my life Sheldon. We have over 60 people going with us this time. We only had 40 last time, and many walked away in love.
Sheldon always smiled and was such a cheerful man. He was Lucy's soul mate because they differed in many ways.
Casting Away
Over the intercom, Lucy announced that the water was a little rough and that everyone should have their life jackets close as they were in for a wild ride.
Everyone at first thought, what did we get ourselves into?
After eight hours of cocktails, refreshing fruit and chatting with others, they were close to making their destination.
Coming off the boat, Lucy greeted everyone with a bag full of goodies and directions to their huts.
Several stood on the sandy beaches, looking over the brochure. Who said we were staying in huts?
Well, they did have to admit the beach looked beautiful, and the palm trees looked divine, but why the map to find their "huts?"
"Don't forget to use your compass.
This is like boot camp, so many trails to go, so many little streams to jump over and not only that, when I think of an island, I think of no hills.
Finally, my hut.
Unbelievable, an island of paradise. This smells terrible; I have to sleep on that, honestly. Where are the bathrooms? I need a helicopter to get out of here. Wait, no phone service? Mama Mia, what did I get myself into?
A loudspeaker came over all of the huts to rest up, and don't forget tonight is the meet and greet, and the directions are found in your pamphlets.
I could rest up, go outside, and rest in the hammock. It even has a mosquito mesh around it, so that is perfect. Well, that will give this place a one-star.
The Adventurous Greet And Meet
Welcome, everyone; we hope you found your huts accommodating. For tonight we have a wine on the house, a meal will be served, and later we have one of the island's finest musical bands playing for you.
Enjoy,
Well, I think I will walk over, get wine, and start a conversation. Let's see how this goes.
Hi, your Drew. Wait, how did you know that?
It's on the name tag they put on you when you come in. I didn't even know that was there. Well, they were quick about slapping that on you. So your name is Pepper. It is charming to meet you.
I bet you say that to all of the women here. You are the first one I have met. Well, that allows you to say it to all other women when you meet them. Well, I would love to chat more and get to know you.
Well, as you know, my name is Pepper; yes, it could have been Salt. My dad had both the shakers in his hand before I was born and said, if it's a girl, let's call her Pepper and if it is a boy, let's call him Salt. Mom agreed, and I love my name. Don't you love my name?
I do; it's a beautiful name. What do you do for a living, Pepper?
I am a collector; if you ever watch those antique road shows, I am a bit like that. I buy authentic old antiques and sometimes refurbish them and sell them. Often I purchase to keep, and the rest is to auction off at a high price. I just bought an old sewing machine this week; here are pictures you can look at.
Well, Pepper, that is a beautiful sewing machine. I am sorry, but I must confess I don't know much about antiques or even begin to know how to sell. Your job sounds interesting.
I love it; I travel, make friends, and can do it whenever I wish.
Wow, that is amazing, your hours. Unlike my job, eight hours in an office, chasing people for money.
Come on now, Drew, you're on vacation, wrapping her arms around his neck. (way to forward for Drews's comfort) Chin up, you're going to; I mean, we are going to have so much fun. Lets dance.
Wow, where on earth did she come from? Drew was shaking his head as they started to dance. Way out of his comfort zone, they were right to call this the Odd Couple Dating Site.
Congo Line, let's go, Drew. I have to excuse myself to the men's room. I will be back in a minute. You better, snookums.
Drew needed a break; going to the mensroom was a relief. He was hoping to meet several interesting people tonight, not just one, but well he had a whole two weeks to go. Anything could happen.
"Wakey, Wakey, Its Morning Time"
Pepper, it's six in the morning; how did you get in here, and how did you find my hut?
Oh, easy, I was behind you when you got here, my hut is three down from yours, and as far as getting in, I just went through the window open at the back.
Okay, I am instead a private man. I don't mean to sound rude, but maybe next time, knock. Oh, I did, but you didn't hear me, and I didn't want your java to go cold.
Well, Pepper, I do love my Java. I am sorry I had to go back to the hut last night. I was overly tired from the boat ride. I know, but I am like the energizer bunny and can go on forever. I only got four hours of sleep. I danced the night away.
You're going to be exhausted for the game on the beach this afternoon. Who me, never, I can't wait to beat you. What if we don't get matched up, then what? I will make sure we do.
Well, I better get back to the hut and get all dolled up for you, sweetie; I want you to feel proud when we're together.
Shaking his head, Drew just wanted to roll over and disappear. At first, he thought of how Pepper was a straightforward girl; now, that would be a sign of a person he would never date. Another thing, she was blonde, and he went after more brunettes. As far as looks, she reminded him of his sister. Man, oh man, what am I doing?
After a nice dip in the ocean, catching some sun, another little catnap. The dinner bell was ringing, and along came Pepper.
Welcome, everyone; today, we will join each other in the building to my left. However, the outside is steel metal; the inside is beautiful and, most of all, relaxing. Please find the spot where you will be sitting for your dinner, as your names are posted as you go in.
Oh, Pepper didn't look happy at all. We better be sitting together.
Well, that didn't happen, but the room was beautiful. Everyone sat on comfy pillows on a bamboo floor around a circular table. Pepper was on one side of the room, and I was on the other. Rather interesting, with lots of new people to meet.
Hi everyone, I'm Drew.
Oh, your Peppers soul mate. Wait, I am?
Laughter all around the table. Okay, what has been said about me? We stayed up dancing last night and met Pepper; she wouldn't stop talking about you.
That was nice; not sure of a soul mate but a good friend.
So is everyone having a great time? Everyone got talking and chatting and even Drew started talking to a pretty girl who also worked in accounting. They had so much in common, they ordered the same drink, enjoyed doing the same activities, and Drew didn't want to leave.
On a good note, that young lady was chosen as his partner for the game.
Pepper looked heartbroken, yet she went on to play.
The game's goal was "Trusting"- each player had three different objects to return to their partner, not using their hands or mouth, only their legs to take the objects to each other.
Drew took a hairbrush between his legs very carefully, and of course, with laughter going on, he succeeded. They both accomplished the task well and even hugged each other.
Pepper looked on, feeling sad. Wishing it was her.
Drew walked back to the hut, thinking how much they had in common. Wow, imagine another accountant.
Pepper was nowhere to be found.
A nice campfire on the beach and talked to a few great people. They were right about making good friends. Yet where was his friend "Pepper'?
Mornings coffee was quiet, a quick dip in the ocean. No one anywhere to chat with, but then again, that was the life Drew was accustomed to.
Am I this boring? Day in and day out, I do the same things I do—no wonder I am alone. I need excitement.
Rediscover Yourself
Welcome, everyone; today is about: never saying I can't. Remember how many steps it took you to get here. Looking at all of those steps, trying something new only takes one step.
We are ziplining today. Let's get our gear on.
Pepper was wearing her outfit, talking with a few people quietly. Drew waved, but Pepper didn't.
Well, Drew had never done this before, so here was a new thing he could mark off of goals to do.
Looking down, Drew felt dizzy; on the other hand, Pepper was having the time of her life. Oh yes, she was singing all the way across.
Finally, Drew did it; it wasn't until he reached the other side that he realized how much fun it was.
The next part was going across with a partner; Drew was given the girl he got to know the other night.
Nice to see you again, likewise. They connected well, and across they went.
Drew realized there was no laughter or fun. It was the feeling of having a co-worker do something with you. No, this wasn't the relationship for him. So he thanked her and walked down to the beach.
Wow, I missed Pepper. No way on earth would I have said that before or even when I got here. She brings so much fun wherever she goes. Yet she is so different in so many ways from all of the girls I have dated.
Wait, that's my problem. I need a fun and spontaneous person to be with.
Ting a cold drink, Drew lay on the sand. His mind kept thinking of Pepper laughing and having fun at the dance, how he would never have gotten up and just done that. How much she enjoyed him and even brought him a coffee.
Then her laughter and singing as she was ziplining was awesome.
Well, now she ignores me, and there is not much I can do about it. So that is that.
Five Adventurous Days To Go
Drew kept waving at Pepper and even said hi as she walked by his hut. She spoke back and said cheerio.
People always surrounded Pepper, and it was hard even to get up and talk to her. But Drew decided he was not going to give up. He had planned something and hoped it was going to work.
Within the next five days, they did some sightseeing as a group on the island; it was bigger than everyone thought. Lots of photography was done as the island had very rare carved-out sculptures in the rocks. Very picturesque.
The programs were entertaining, and quite a few matched up with one another. Although Pepper had many around her, even a few men, Drew was hoping he still had a chance.
- Looking from my point of view, I didn't think he did-the actual odd couple.
So it was time for Drew to surprise Pepper, get her alone and show her a good time.
He was leaving a note on the door of her hut and a beautiful flower from the island attached to it to meet on the beach at 7.
Looking over, he saw her take the flower and smell it; he thought wow, she looks so beautiful. Then she read the note, looking around and then at his hut. Quickly he hid, not wanting her to know it was him.
Ding, Dong The Clock Struck Seven
As the sun was ready to go down, a picnic for two and tropical music was playing. Drew sat waiting very patiently for Pepper.
Well, it was after seven, no Pepper.
Drew was feeling very discouraged, ready to open the wine. Pepper popped up.
Shocked as ever could be but, on the other hand, happier than ever. Pepper said, what's happening?
I missed you, Pepper; I thought we were good friends.
I did to Drew until after dinner at the round table; everyone said you were my friend but could never be my soul mate. I was hurt.
I am so sorry; I mean sad. At first, you didn't suit the women I am usually attracted to. And well, after you were gone, I realized that you were the woman I loved being with.
Well, glad you got that figured out, Drew; I have no idea who I want to be with. I am not so bad alone.
Is that what you want, Pepper?
Well, enough of this talking; let's enjoy our picnic, listen to the music, and do some star gazing. Sounds like fun to me. Thank you, Pepper.
Who knew two people who were so different in every way could have so much fun on a beach, looking at stars, calling them weird names? Who knew that two people only lived five blocks from each other? Probably road the same bus.
Now get this one-who knew that after that adventure? Yes, the odd couple - which in the beginning was not a match -would have never connected in their hometown.
They have been happily married for two years and are going scuba-diving next weekend. Drew would never have done anything like this ever.
