The Moonflower: Part II

The New Garden

She missed him. She wanted him back but knew much better.

She couldn’t.

She wouldn’t.

He had left her there in her darkness. The same darkness that he helped her find her way out of.

He was her light, her Moonflower that only blooms at night and glows under moonlight. But she couldn’t deny the truth that she always knew: no matter how much effort Moonflowers are worth, and how much beauty they hold; they are still poison, and they don’t give much effort to survive.

She had finally seen this Moonflower’s final bloom, it had died by morning. In the given time, in fact.

She realized her life was a garden, and she was the gardener. She wanted beautiful flowers in her garden, but she didn’t want poison. She would miss him and trying to fill the space of her Moonflower would be one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do. His vines intertwined with her soul, she was tangled up in him. She had to cut herself free of his grip.

She was scared...

So scared...

She was alone again. She wanted to see his glow in the distance. She craved that soft glow. But the moon had gone away, the Universe came crashing down on her once again. She needed to rebuild the wall that she worked so hard to build up last time, the one he broke through.

She could hear his voice echo in the silence, haunting her. She couldn’t sleep. All she could see when she closed her eyes was his face. She didn’t want to open them... She’d open them and he’d go away again.. She’d wake with a screaming meemie more than usual since he left.

She was betrayed. When he left she screamed for him, she cried out. But he couldn’t hear her. He never could hear her even when he was staring right at her, watching her beg for him to stay. She was dying inside the whole time, she knew he wouldn’t stay. But she fought till she had nothing left to say. There was nothing more she could say that she hadn’t said already.

He’d left her... He let her go.. After she fought so hard to hold onto him, he just let her go. He never looked back. Her knees were bruised and bloody from him dragging her, before he finally decided to just let go. She was frozen and empty, it felt just like the last time....but so much worse.. She craved that poisonous Moonflower, but she knew she could never find him without his glow...

He wasn’t coming back. The bush had seen its final flower. He was it. That one that was worth the effort. But she was no Moonflower.. To him... Her eyes sang her sadness, they said everything she couldn’t say. It was a sad lullaby of a broken heart. A beautiful symphony. A Moonflower Melody.

The softest soul shatters the most, hers had turned to dust the day he walked away. She had nurtured that precious Moonflower, helped it grow, refreshed its soil. Only for it to plant its new roots in someone else’s garden. He didn’t wait for her, she was too worn out. Her garden had weeds and he couldn’t see the beauty in them. But he didn’t stay long enough to witness them bloom. He didn’t have the patience she did, or the vision she had. The beautiful vision of their garden intertwining into the most beautiful utopia. She saw it all, she tried to get him to see. But he wouldn’t let those beautiful eyes bloom. He didn’t want to see it.

She lost her safe haven, her glow in the darkness, her flicker of hope... It turned to ash right in front of her eyes.. She was just all alone again.... Just...alone...

What is there to wait on anymore, really?
