How To Find It

The moment of freedom is when I look up. My eyes reach the skies, and the infinite nature of self is the same as the clouds, soft and peaceful.

Then I think of the soldiers bombed in their sleep in the depths of Ukraine, and my tears form currents at my feet. The visage of lifelines no more, who now tastes the sweets of freedom? The west safely now in the nest of forever-wide.

There are so many ways to spell freedom.

  • The feeling of independence when a youth ventures away from home for the first time, trunk packed full, head out the car window feeling the breeze and smiling.
  • The first night in your own home
  • A Saturday all to yourself to do whatever you want.
  • Your first pay cheque
  • A woman leaving an abuser and the deep feeling of relief followed by happy realization there is a next step.
  • Sky jumping and the total trust in atmospheric pressure and lightness of flight
  • Staring at the waves and knowing that you are an infinite speck in the remarkable globe of people
  • Knowing you can do what you want when you want is living freedom

These are all moments of human nature in free thinking space. Moments combined that equal a feeling so pronounced it moves your very soul.

There is a little boy hero in Ukraine raised by his mother and grandmother, who could not physically leave their home. So she sent him with a backpack, a note written on his hand and some change in his pocket. He walked 620 miles to safety, to the Czechoslovakian border to be met by his brother. Their sacrifice and a mother's love allowed freedom like a good luck charm. I openly sob for what the world has become, how the great minds and authority can't think outside the atrocities to change them so this doesn't happen again. Quietly I pray that someone finds the mother and grandmother to bring them together again.

I wonder why the rules created for the sake of freedom, don't fit the rules themselves.

How about one rule: war is against all rules, and anyone who initiates it violates global law.

So Free Spirits then, we should all strive to be. In this way, we give to the future the idea of freedom to nurture.

How to be a Free Spirit, it's mostly an inborn thing from lifetimes before us. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not. Lifetimes prior shape our soul.

Perhaps you don't feel it, the free-spirit thing. But, it's there; you have to allow your inner being to enter your threshold, your mind.

This is how to be a free-spirit. Here are three principles to guide you.

Be accepting of people. People have backgrounds. Unless they are attacking you verbally, accept who they are and from where they are coming. No judgment, no fear, and don't try to heal them all or smooth things over. Some are here in the world to heal themselves.

Move on from all discord. Don't get caught up in the moment. For the most part, ignore that moment. Everything doesn't need to be analyzed. That is a trap; the devil is in the details, an old saying that fits. Don't argue; breathe, even if you disagree. Others' opinions don't matter if it violates your peace. There is no gain in vengeance because once you act on that, you take a step lower, and a bar appears to block your freedom.

No fear. Fear is a control not your own. If we fear, we hold the bars in front of us. Fear is a structure that controls or defines thinking even, let it go. The cornerstone of stress is having no control over something - what fear? Question that, challenge it, and the stress rolls away.

These are spiritual steps. In the face of war they may seem meagre because lives are at stake. But the true meaning of the word lies within little steps that make a bigger future.

If we could get all nations to take these steps then like the little boy's steps to freedom, there would be peace on earth. Why not look at it that way.

Death tallies no reasoning. Fighting for peace is important if you have to because of some circumstances. No one wants to fight. A thirst for blood is insanity and no marbles roll swift in that. Most of the world is evolved and know that war is wrong on all levels and not necessary. Everyone should be helping to promote peace or this globe is no more.

In the here and now, always take time for a few moments to yourself in a day. Contemplation, music you love, reading or entertainment, whatever moves you. In those times that you feel confined, that your freedom has been taken, then look up and find your clouds to guide you. Because I am sure that some infinite being did for that boy, so his story could be told.
