The DOUCHE Date

People with almost no time for themselves always try to find love on blind dates. This was one of those. Two people, two busy men trying to find the other half – if there is such thing. It was a friend of a friend that set them up, and they have been talking for months now. Philip and Jonas didn’t have a proper date until today.

Philip is a businessman that spends much of his time traveling between business fairs. And that was the main reason for some breakups. It seems that his strong fuse personality didn’t help either. Screaming or throwing things was his motto in fights. He didn’t care about the other half of the relationship and that was a bad thing. Of course, Philip does not lie, so he always tries to show and tell his bad behaviors to new lovers. We wanted to love but not to compromise.

Jonas is a calm man with an empathy that makes him suffer in any type of relationship. He gives too much because he feels that he isn’t showing his love enough. He is sick of being lied to and that’s the main reason that Jonas is trying so hard to get a new boyfriend. Not because he needs one, but he wants to live a normal life – a real and truthful one. So, since his friend tells him about the characteristics of Philip he did take a special interest in the person that he didn’t even meet yet. He has a free spirit and needs a leash to become a focused man. After all, not everything has to be about his artistic job. He loves to build custom furniture from the dreams of his clients.

But enough about them and more about this date. Here we are, on the first date in Los Angeles, at Oriel Restaurant. Philip that loves arriving early was first and ordered Olives & Nuts with a Merlot wine: the Bordeaux, Chateau des Combes. He sure loved red wine and olives to start dinner. He hasn’t even finished the glass when Jonas arrived with a big smile.

- Hello, Phil. It’s nice to finally meet you! – Jonas approached Philip's cheek and kissed it. Philip held the back of his neck and kissed him on the mouth.

- Much better. – Said Philip and both smiled. – How are you today?

- A lot better now, I would say.

- Good. Care joining me with a glass of wine? – Asked Philip.

- Merlot, my favorite! – Jonas said after tasting the wine. – What do you suggest as dinner?

Philip called the waiter and ordered two servings of Bavette steak with mashed potatoes and a small green salad. They had a great date night and the restaurant was perfect for their first encounter.

The hours passed, and the atmosphere warmed to the taste of wine. Their hands began to touch with each glance exchanged.

- The food was amazing. – Said Jonas, thinking about more than simply the food. – I love this restaurant.

- It’s your first time here? – Philip was glad to be with Jonas, their conversation was so easy to follow and profound that they can’t get enough.

- Yes, I kind of new to Los Angeles and I haven’t searched this area.

- I am glad to go with you, when possible. – Philip smiled with some caution.

- I know that your career is important for you. Don’t be so thoughtful about it. We have our spaces and our lives. The key is to understand each other.

- I don’t know much about it. I usually don’t care.

- One step at a time. – Jonas was sympathetic. – We can’t become something that we are not. Each people care their way.

- Absolutely. But most of my exes call me a douche.

- We all are douches sometimes. – Answered Jonas.

- To the Douche date, then! – Philip smiled, happy with all these moments. He stepped forward with the glass to toast.

- To the Douche date! – They toasted.

The night was still warm and sweet as wine, full of opportunities and new feelings were beginning to grow. New days will come, for this Douche couple.
