His Plaque on the Bridge
How are you supposed to process the grief of losing someone you never met? Can I even say that I lost my Uncle Todd? One thing I can say for certain is that not having him in my life, whether I ever met him or not, leaves me longing for a relationship I’ll never quite have.

Shattered Dreams
Africa, a continent blessed with diverse cultures and rich traditions, has also sadly witnessed its fair share of political instability and military coups. Behind the headlines and political power struggles lie untold tales of ordinary citizens whose lives are forever changed by these tumultuous events. In this article, we delve into the emotional upheaval caused by military coups in Africa, shedding light on the human stories that often go untold. Once upon a time, in the vibrant nation of Gabon, a captivating tale of power and uncertainty unfolded on a night illuminated by the enchanting glow of a rare and mythical phenomenon – the Blue Moon. Little did the people of Gabon know that this celestial spectacle would coincide with a tumultuous event that would forever alter their nation's destiny. Gabon, a land blessed with abundant riches and a legacy of political dynasty, found itself teetering on the brink of change. The air was thick with anticipation as the nation's longstanding president, whose family had governed for over fifty years, emerged victorious amidst a fiercely contested election. The anticipation gave way to jubilation as his supporters rejoiced over what they believed to be a moment of triumph and continuity. However, destiny had other plans in store. Somewhere amidst the shadows of power and ambition, a clandestine plot was brewing. Under the cloak of darkness and under the watchful gaze of the mystical Blue Moon, a military coup unfolded, shattering the tranquility of the night. Unbeknownst to the nation, the coup plotters had meticulously orchestrated their actions to coincide with the president's victory, aiming to seize control of Gabon's future in one decisive move. As the clock struck midnight, the coup unfolded with unparalleled precision. Soldiers clad in camouflage emerged from the shadows, swiftly overtaking key governmental institutions and strategic locations. The heart of the capital city pulsed with confusion and uncertainty as the echo of gunshots pierced the night sky, shattering the silence that once enveloped the bustling metropolis. Caught amidst the chaos, the people of Gabon found themselves torn between loyalty, fear, and hope. Some stood defiant, refusing to surrender to the whims of those seeking to control their future. Others, undecided and fearing the unpredictable consequences, retreated into the safety of their homes, seeking solace among their loved ones. In this tumultuous backdrop, a group of unlikely heroes emerged – activists, journalists, and citizens who yearned for justice and democracy. United by a shared dream of a brighter future, they banded together, spurred on by the resilience and determination that can only come from a people yearning for freedom. Guided by the ethereal glow of the Blue Moon, these brave souls embarked on a journey to reclaim their nation. Their actions painted a vivid tapestry of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering hope. Through hidden alliances, daring escapes, and the power of unity, they defied the odds and charted a course towards a new dawn. As the Blue Moon watched over them, the heroes drew upon the strength of their collective spirit and withstood the forces of oppression. Their struggle galvanized the nation, causing ripples that reached far beyond Gabon's borders. News of their fight for freedom spread like wildfire, capturing the hearts and minds of people around the world, who stood in solidarity with their cause. Ultimately, as the final rays of the Blue Moon faded away, victory was forged in the hearts of the people. Through unwavering determination, they reclaimed their nation from the clutches of uncertainty and paved the way for a brighter future. The winds of change blew across the land, carrying with them the hope that the power of the people would always prevail in the face of adversity. And so, the tale of the Blue Moon in Gabon became a legend, etched forever in the annals of history. It served as a poignant reminder that even amidst darkness, the human spirit can shine the brightest, illuminating the path towards a new era of freedom, justice, and democracy. The story begins with a promise of brighter days. A nation, once ravaged by colonialism and struggling to find its feet, finally establishes a democratic government. The people, yearning for stability and prosperity, begin to rebuild their lives. Confidence soars, and dreams of a brighter future take root. The Dark Clouds Gather, unbeknownst to its citizens, shadows loom in the corridors of power. Beneath the facade of democracy, greed, corruption, and ambition take hold. The military, meant to be the guardians of peace, silently gather their forces, led by ambitious generals seduced by power. The Coup Unfolds one fateful night, the nation's dreams are shattered. The sound of gunfire rips through the air, innocent lives suspended in a limbo of uncertainty. Tanks rumble down the streets, imposing their iron will upon a once-thriving democracy. Fear grips the hearts of the people, as hopes give way to despair. Looking to the Horizon yet, through the tears and pain, stories of resilience and hope emerge. Communities come together, forming human shields against the storm of dictatorship. Activists rally, artists express their dissent through their craft, and ordinary people become heroes in their own right. The blueprints for a brighter future may have been temporarily snatched away, but the spirit of freedom and democracy refuses to be silenced. There have been multiple coups over the past three years in Africa’s former French colonies – Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, Tunisia and now Gabon – that threaten a reversal of the democratization process the continent has undergone in the past two decades. Coups in Africa were rampant in the early postcolonial decades, with coup leaders offering similar reasons for toppling governments: corruption, mismanagement and poverty, according to political analyst. These justifications still resonate with many Africans today, he wrote for CNN in 2021 – and in many countries, people feel these problems are worsening. All the while, the population is growing in the world’s youngest continent, intensifying already fierce competition for resources. These conditions have helped drive more recent coups – with many young Africans disillusioned with allegedly corrupt leaders and ready for radical change, as seen by the celebrations in Gabon Wednesday, and similar celebrations after the Guinea coup two years ago.

Building Sustainably for the Future
Sustainable construction is one of the central themes when it comes to planning the city centers and metropolitan areas of the future. In the context of global warming and the climate crisis, it's more important than ever to minimize the impacts of construction projects on ecosystems and the environment. This pertains not only to the construction itself but also to the subsequent use of the buildings, whether they're residential or commercial.
