breakups
When it comes to breakups, pain is inevitable, but Humans thinks that suffering is optional.
Love and Ourselves
In a small, bustling town lived a young woman named Emma. To outsiders, she seemed to have it all—a successful career, a close-knit group of friends, and the appearance of a well-balanced life. But beneath the surface, she struggled with something that many often overlook: the relationship with herself. For years, Emma had been searching for love, not in the romantic sense, but in the deep and meaningful way we seek acceptance and understanding within ourselves.

Lessons I Learned About Love While Healing My Broken Heart
Healing a broken heart feels like piecing together a shattered mirror. You see the cracks, the jagged edges, and the parts that don’t seem to fit anymore. When I went through heartbreak, I thought I had lost everything—my love, my dreams, and even a part of myself. But as I began to heal, I realized I hadn’t lost love. I was just learning what it truly meant. Here are the lessons I discovered about love during my journey of healing: 1. Love Shouldn’t Hurt For the longest time, I believed that love meant enduring pain. I thought that sacrificing my happiness, ignoring my needs, and holding on no matter what was proof of how deeply I loved someone. But I was wrong. Love isn’t meant to hurt. It’s not supposed to leave you feeling empty, unworthy, or broken. Love should build you up, not tear you down. Healing taught me that true love feels safe, kind, and gentle. It doesn’t demand that you lose yourself to keep it. 𝟐. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐈𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡 When my heart was broken, I blamed myself. I replayed every moment, wondering if I could’ve been better, done more, or loved harder. But the truth is, I was pouring everything into someone else and leaving nothing for myself. Healing taught me that self-love isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Loving yourself means setting boundaries, listening to your needs, and choosing what’s best for you—even if it means walking away from someone you love. 𝟑. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐎𝐤𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐆𝐨 Letting go was the hardest part. I held on to memories, hoping that things would somehow go back to how they used to be. But love isn’t about clinging to the past. Healing showed me that letting go isn’t giving up—it’s choosing peace. It’s understanding that some people aren’t meant to stay, but they were still a part of your story. And just because the story ends doesn’t mean it wasn’t meaningful. 4. Love Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect I used to think love had to be flawless, like the ones in movies or books. But real love is messy. It’s full of imperfections, misunderstandings, and moments of doubt. Healing taught me to embrace the imperfections—not just in others, but in myself. I realized that love isn’t about finding someone perfect; it’s about finding someone who’s willing to grow with you, flaws and all. 𝟓. 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 Some people come into your life to teach you, not to stay forever. It took me a long time to understand this. I wanted every love to last, but not every love is meant to. Healing helped me see that some relationships prepare you for the right one. They teach you what you want, what you don’t, and how to love better. Losing someone doesn’t mean the love was wasted. It just means their chapter in your life is over. 6. Love Comes in Many Forms When I was heartbroken, I felt like I had lost all the love in my life. But I was wrong. Love was still there—in my family, my friends, and even in the small acts of kindness from strangers. Healing reminded me that love isn’t confined to one person. It’s in the laughter of friends, the support of a loved one, and the quiet moments you spend with yourself. Love is all around us; we just have to open our hearts to see it. 𝟕. 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐎𝐤𝐚𝐲 I wanted to rush through the pain, to skip the heartbreak and move straight to the part where I felt okay again. But healing doesn’t work like that. I learned that it’s okay to take your time. To cry, to feel, to grieve what was lost. Healing isn’t linear—it’s messy and unpredictable. But every day, you get a little stronger, a little wiser, and a little closer to finding peace. 8. Love Begins With You The most important lesson I learned is that love starts with me. I spent so much time searching for love in someone else that I forgot to nurture the love within myself. Healing taught me to be kind to myself, to celebrate my strengths, and to forgive my mistakes. It reminded me that I am worthy of love—not because of what I do or who I’m with, but because of who I am. Healing a broken heart is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. It will test you, stretch you, and leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about love. But it’s also a chance to grow, to learn, and to rediscover yourself. The lessons I learned during my healing journey changed me. They showed me that love isn’t just about giving your heart to someone else—it’s about holding space for yourself, too. If you’re in the middle of heartbreak, know this: you will heal. And when you do, you’ll come out stronger, wiser, and more ready to embrace the love you truly deserve.

How to Stay Friends with an Ex
Breaking up is hard enough, but deciding whether to stay friends with an ex can be just as tricky. I’ve been in that situation where you ask yourself, “Is this even possible?” For me, there were times I genuinely wanted to keep the connection because the bond we had was too meaningful to completely let go. But it wasn’t always smooth sailing. If you’re considering staying friends with an ex, I’ve learned that it takes honesty, boundaries, and a lot of self-awareness to make it work. Let me share what’s helped me navigate this delicate balance.
