Meeting again after 10 years

By Cathline RiveraPublished 6 years ago • 3 min read

Finally, the day was here! Lisa was excited and couldn't contain her excitement. Today was going to be the day Lisa was going to meet up with James, an old high school friend, with the home she had reconnected with online. Lisa and James had shared a few classes throughout the high school years. Although their relationship was not romantic, they had a fun connection. They always worked on group projects together and sat close to each other in every class they could. After 10 years they reconnected on social media. They discovered both had recently moved back to their home town. They spent several weeks communicating by phone and online, it seemed they were really hitting it off. Now that they both lived in the same city, so they decided it was time to meet again after so many years, and spending several weeks communicating by phone and online. Lisa and James were fond of each other and agreed they wanted this to be the perfect date. It had been a long time since either of them had been on a date. They knew this connection was special. This first date had to be special too!

Lisa spent all day preparing for today. Lisa wanted to make sure her house was clean and that it would be romantic and comfortable. She wanted to make sure everything was just right! The pair had discussed their love for cooking and food and decided it would be a great first date. They would cook at Lisa's place and James would bring the wine and a delicious dessert of his choice. James went out to his favorite bakery to pick up dessert. This bakery had so many delicious desserts, James knew he couldn't go wrong! He searched a couple of stores and found the perfect bottle of wine. Lisa agreed she would pick up the ingredients for dinner. They both loved Cajun food and lots of spice! They decided to make a Cajun-style pasta. Along with Lisa's favorite salad to make, this was going to be amazing!

At five that evening James arrived at the door and rang the doorbell. "Punctual", Lisa said to herself, to her that mattered. As she opened the door and welcomed James in, she saw his hands were full. She helped him with a couple of things and showed him to the kitchen. She was pleasantly surprised to see a dozen white roses and a bottle of Wandering Giants Merlot. She had only mentioned this wine in a brief conversation about a recommendation her friend Cara made. Now she knew he was really listening and thought to herself,"great start, so far"!

After a brief tour of the house and Lisa's big beautiful backyard, they returned to the kitchen and began preparing the ingredients for their special evening. James opened the bottle of wine and let it sit to breathe for a few minutes. Lisa reached into the cabinet and grabbed two glasses out and set them on the counter. James poured a glass of the Merlot for Lisa and one for himself. They raised their glasses to toast to a date that was already perfect, and only getting better.

After preparing the meal and setting up the table, the pair poured two more glasses of wine and sat down to enjoy a meal that was delicious and full of excellent conversation. They discussed how their lives had been during the past 10 years. James and Lisa had both been divorced after being married briefly. After dessert, they promptly cleaned up the kitchen and headed to Lisa's back porch. They sat for a couple more hours in pure enjoyment of the moment and deep conversation. Both grateful they had finally reconnected. They both agreed the date was perfect! Although the date was wonderful, they knew that it was getting later, and later, they agreed they would say goodnight. They both knew there would definitely be more of this to come! As Lisa walked James to the front door, they hugged, thanked each other for a great date, and exchanged a gentle but sweet kiss. They said good night and James got in his car and drove off. This was just the beginning, the best first date!

As soon as James reached his house, he sent Lisa a sweet text, confirming he thought the date was perfect! Lisa felt the same way. Lisa was glad she decided to give someone new a chance. She wasn't sure if she could feel so happy again! Now that James and Lisa had gotten to know each other so much better, they rest was just a great adventure to come!
