Silence Speaks Different Languages

Silence speaks different languages and the most selfless acts are those in silence.

Everywhere she went, she had a roommate who followed her. Though her roommate did not speak in public, their presence was always felt.

Opportunities knocked on her door, but her roommate disliked the idea of anything new. So she turned down social invitations, career opportunities, and companionship. Instead, she spent time indoors doing what she was comfortable with.

She vividly remembers when she stumbled on the feet of luck and met potential clients online who were kind enough to give her the chance to showcase her skills as a digital marketer. Her roommate's prying eyes said enough for her to feel some sort of way.

"Perhaps you should review your worth, I don't think you're up to par," the roommate suggests.

"It's just that... you aren't the best person for the job, so maybe you should skip this project until you are better."

"What happens if the client dislikes your efforts and gives you a horrible review?"

So she listened to her roommate and turned down clients using some hideous excuse. Yes, you guessed right; she crawled back into her hole with humiliation.

At least she was safe though.

This roommate was the anxiety that constantly whispered to her how she wasn't good enough. Just like a buzzing fly in your house in the middle of the night - it annoyed her but she just accepted the fact that it was there. She didn't want to deal with it. So she kept on sleeping.

When the silence was eery, her mind was a central train station and her heart was the center of it all. It's chaotic. But yet, it was silent.

Cycles repeat themselves until you truly understand the lessons The Universe is teaching you. But how does one transcend when they do not know better?

Like the instruments that play on queue in a melodramatic tv series, angels came into her life. No, not the angels who dress in all white that have wings. Her angels came in the form of beautiful souls who she proudly calls sisters. Not blood sisters, soul sisters.

The definition of beauty isn't the external appearance of one. It's the internal attributes that one holds that radiates externally. Being kind and attentive says a lot about someone.

Silently, her soul sisters listened to her story.

She spoke her truth about the voices in her head. She spoke about her heart feeling like it was going to jump out when she was around a group of people. She didn't understand why it caused her much grief. She questioned herself a lot. She would recycle the same stories about not being good enough.

In their presence, she felt comfortable expressing her authentic self. The burden of shame and guilt slowly lifted. Letting go of once was and speaking of what she desired alleviated her self perception. And with practice, speaking to others became easier. Confidence hugged her and she noticed herself smiling again.

Speaking about her roommate to others gave her a sense of awareness. With this sense of awareness, she shifted from accepting to acknowledging that anxiety was a part of who she was.

Sitting in silence with someone who is genuinely there for you hits differently. A person who forgets about time and their daily life to be fully present with you. The choice they make to care about you and your wellbeing in silence speaks ten folds.

Fortunately for her, the diverse experience with silence spoke to her heart. The lesson she learned from this was; it does not take much to really help someone out through the hard times they are facing. The act of listening in silence can transform someone's outlook.

Genuine people exist. People who care about you are out there. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to express yourself but it's worth it in the end.

Silence speaks different languages and the most selfless acts are those in silence.
