Am I the only one who gets near-orgasmic pleasure from a clean and tidy house? Who finds it hard to eat when that flowerpot looks crooked or the center rug isn't aligned properly on the tile? It can't just be me.

Having a clean and orderly home is a really huge flex, trust me! One significant thing about a clean and orderly home is that the occupants have their acts together. Not only for appearance’s sake but for so much more, e.g.; the health of the family. Regardless of what your home looks like, there really is no place like it. And no matter what life shoots your way, home is the one place you get to feel relaxed. And so, it goes without saying that you have to keep your home as clean and organized as your own body.

I understand that saying and doing are worlds apart, especially when it has to do with cleaning the home. Finding time to manage cleaning your house every day with a busy work schedule might be a tough call. You might have also considered hiring someone, or a cleaning company to get this done, but the cost might be way too much for you to afford, considering that there are other expenses that would also need to be attended to. So, are you expected to live dirtily and untidily? Of course not. In this article, I have put together some cleanliness tips that can help you keep your space neat and organized, at least most of the time.

Keep Your Kitchen Clean

One of the most important parts of the home is the kitchen. This is because your meals are prepared here, dishes are done here, your bin is most likely here and a host of other little but significant activities take place here. This is the heart of your home. If we are being honest, the kitchen is one place that gets dirt the easiest, usually due to the process of cooking.

After every meal preparation, ensure that your kitchen countertop and sinks are cleaned. Also, wipe up any spills to avoid them moving through the house. Should you have oil and grease stains on your kitchen cabinets, use a clean cloth dampened in a solution of mild soap and water to remove such stains.

Do not pile plates up. Right after every meal, make a point of note to ensure that the dishes are done. If you cannot wash dishes after every meal, make sure that you at least do so after having dinner. Do not carry the day’s dishes over till the next morning as it will only make the burden worse.

Avoid getting your kitchen cluttered by making use of a limited number of dishes per time. Also, check your fridge as often as possible for perishable foods that might need to be thrown out.

Make Your Bed as Soon as You Wake Up

For some, this activity is a waste of time, but the truth is that it does make a huge difference in how tidy your room looks. Most importantly, it will only cost a few minutes. I also believe that laying your bed is therapeutic, and helps you start your day on a good note. So that making your bed is as stress-free as possible, you can simplify your bedding to the best of your ability. If you hate having to tuck the sheets in at the ends, make use of bedsheets that have elastic bands around them so you can simply wear it over the mattress, and smoothen out where necessary. You may also be uninterested in laying a bed cover before laying your bedsheet. If this is the case, then get bedsheets made of thick, non-transparent materials. If you also prefer to have your top sheets, you can minimize the number of pillows on your bed.

Wash Your Bathroom Regularly

Another part of the home which requires so much attention is the bathroom. A lot goes down here, and it is only necessary that the walls and floors of the bathroom are washed and scrubbed thoroughly. Pay particular attention to your bathroom floor, walls, tub, and doors. Make sure that each of these parts is wiped down after every shower.

Let fresh air into the bathroom by opening your windows and air vents. This will help minimize moisture and get the floor and walls dried faster. You can also install towel bars and hooks to keep your clothes and other essentials.

Just writing these tips and visualizing them in my mind's eye is making me giddy! Excuse me while I go fix that picture frame :)
