Ini Edo is from the very early 2000s era of Nollywood where the industry was still very much in its early days. During a new interview with Chude, Ini Edo looks back at that time in Nollywood, and opens up about why she really misses that 'old' Nollywood, as well as speaks about how her experience working all these years in the industry helped her with making 'Shanty Town'. Here is what Ini Edo had to say.

During her interview with Chude, Ini Edo was asked about the fact that because there has always been this 'old Nollywood', 'new Nollywood' conversation, did she think it's because she's from 'old Nollywood' that gave her the edge in making Shanty Town? to which Ini Edo responded:

INI EDO: It's everything. It's the experience. The experience plays a huge role because experience will teach you how it will play out. How those sort of stories play out. It will teach you how it connects with people. Is it timely? Is it the right time for stories like these? You can literally visualize your market, your target audience. Like the casting, I literally did like 90% of the casting because of that experience of knowing what I want for each character. So experience does play a big role, plus a bit of education I think sometimes.

Then Ini Edo was asked, Do you miss 'old' Nollywood?, to which she responded:

INI EDO: I actually do! I mean, I miss my colleagues, working with them. I really really do. Our sets used to be so much fun back in the day. It used to be like, when you're filming with your friends, it's almost like you're on vacation. After work, in the evening, everybody is just chilling and playing all sorts of games. It was really just like a family. The vibe on set used to be really really nice. There was no envy, there was no competition like that. Everybody was just happy working. And there was real love among people. There was this real compassion, this real connection that wasn't faked or hyped or anything, it was just real. And those people are still my friends till tomorrow.

Awww! I still remember the dancing from the Nollywood movies back then. It indeed used to feel like a very big community back then. What a time!
