Natalie's First Date

Natalie’s Perspective

“Oh come on Nat please do this for me?!” I rolled my eyes while typing the last sentence to my twelve page paper.

“Jordyn, you know I don’t do dates. I like being single, I still have not got over my ex.”

Jordyn crossed her arms and blew her long strawberry blond bang to the side, “This will be helpful Nat, I am sorry but, your relationship has been over for a year and he has moved on I am not asking you to be this guys girlfriend, go home with him or marry him, this is just to help me out on this double date.”

I thought about what Jordyn just said and agreed with her. My ex Hunter has moved on and I have been moping around like he is coming back to me, I looked at my best friend’s puppy dog face and decided to give in, “Okay fine! But, after this is over I will not do it again.”

“Aargh!” Jordyn jumped on me and squeezed me real tight, “Thank you Nat! Now come on and get dressed, we need to go to the mall and find both of us an outfit.”

I rolled my eyes and laughed, “Oh boy I hope I do not regret this.”

Night of the Date

“Oh my gosh! Best friend, you look beautiful, I definitely picked out the right dress for you.”

I smiled because for once in the last year I do feel beautiful, “Thank you Jordyn, your beautiful as always, I love that pastel green on you that dress is showing all of your curves.”

We laughed, “well my date has seen me dressed up a couple of times, this will be our second date and I have not met his friend, so I'm sure you will knock him off of his feet, because that red dress on you is sexy.”

“Ding! Dong!” “Oh that is them I will get the door and you go ahead and finish your hair and make up,” Jordyn said and walked towards the door.

I nodded and continued to do my hair and makeup, about 15 minutes later I heard Jordyn yelling “Natalie! We are going to be late for dinner!”

To be honest, I was a little nervous I have not been on a date since my break up and I have all of these questions popping in my head like, “Will he like me?” “Am I really beautiful?” I was getting ready to say I was not going until Jordyn walked in, “Hey what’s wrong?”

I sighed and sat down on my bed, “This is my first date since my break up and I am just nervous, like will his friend like me, will he find me attractive or will he think i'm weird?”

Jordyn sat down beside me and touched my hand, “Natalie you are beautiful and a great catch your ex Hunter was a jerk, he cheated because he wasn't ready to settle down don't let his mistake judge your future.”

I smiled and wiped the lone tear that fell down my face, “Thanks Jordyn.”

She stood up, “No problem and plus this new guy is a hunk, so come on and see for yourself.”

I cackled and followed her out to the living room and when I saw him Jordyn did not lie he was a hunk, buff arms and beautiful smooth skin like butterscotch and when he smiled I just melted, “Uh Hi I’m Tanner Nice to meet you.”

I smiled and shook his hand, “Nice to meet you Tanner I am Natalie.”

“You look amazing Natalie.”

I blushed, “Thank you, you don’t look too bad yourself.”

“Okay now that we got that out the way let's go before we are late,” Jordyn stated while her date introduced himself as Jacob. We all started to talk while walking to Jacob’s black F150 Truck.

Tanner had opened the door for me which made me smile even more, I never had anyone to do that for me besides my dad but he doesnt count, “Thank you Tanner.”

He smiled and licked his pink full lips, “No problem.”

Once we got situated in the truck, I texted Natalie to tell her she did not lie Tanner was fine! She looked in the side view mirror and smiled at me.

During the entire ride, Tanner and I talked about everything and got to know each other. We only stopped talking, when Jacob announced that we were at our destination. When I looked up I was frozen at how beautiful everything was, there was a boat with tables on them decorated with flowers and lights. “Wow this is beautiful!” Jordyn and Jacob smiled.

“Yeah Jacob said he wanted to do something romantic but not too weird since you and Tanner were meeting for the first time.”

Tanner nodded his head then looked at me, “This is beautiful, shall we?” He moved his hand towards our own table which honestly I was okay with. He was really sweet and I felt comfortable enough to talk to him alone. Jacob and Jordyn went to their table and ignored us the entire time. We ate our dinner, drunk Merlot wine which was so good, laughed, cracked jokes and just had a good time

“You know this wine Merlot is incredible, it has like this fruity fragrance taste,” Tanner said while looking into my eyes.

“I agree I love fruity or sweet tasting wine, I am not really a fan of bitterness wine, this is my second glass so I definitely like it.” I was getting a little hot from blushing because Tanner continued to look at me, “Is everything okay?”

Tanner stood up and sat beside me, when he did I started to get butterflies in my stomach, especially when he moved my hair out of my face, “Yes everything is fine you are just so beautiful I cannot believe your ex would do such a thing he was a coward.”

“Thank you Tanner, you know things happen for a reason and that is something I am learning very well.”

Tanner moved in closer to my face and we kissed, I thought that I would be upset but I wasn’t. We kept going until we heard someone clear their throat.

I buried my head in Tanner’s shoulder, “Oh don’t do that now missy it is getting late and they are getting ready to shut everything down,” I looked up and saw Jordyn smiling because I knew she was genuinely happy for me.

Finally we pulled back up to our apartment, Jacob and Jordyn were walking slowly behind Tanner and I, “I really had a good time tonight Natalie, I hope I was not too forward I just could not resist kissing you,” He grabbed both of my hands and kissed them.

“No honestly, everything was amazing and I enjoyed myself too.”

He smiled, “So are you opened to having a second date then?”

I had the biggest smile on my face, “Of course now that we have each other's number we can plan that second date.”

Tanner pecked my lips and smiled, “That is perfect, I better go get Jacob before he wants to spend the night.”

I laughed, “Of course go ahead see you soon.”

He gave me his gorgeous smile, kissed my cheek and walked towards Jacob and Jordyn. I walked inside the house and went to the cabinets to get wine glasses out because Jordyn brought the Merlot back to our house, I could not resist the good tasting wine.

I heard the front door closed and I smiled because I knew Jordyn was about to start picking at me, “Okay Miss I don’t do dates because that kiss could have fooled me.”

I laughed, “Yeah Tanner was different. I really enjoyed him.”

“Please tell me you guys exchanged numbers and there is a second date?”

I smiled, “Yes to both of those questions.”

Jordyn jumped up and down and grabbed the Merlot, “Oh my gosh it is time for us to pour a glass! I am so excited Natalie!”

We sat down on the couch and talked about tonight, “Thank you Jordyn for talking me into this, it was needed.”

She tilted her head to the side and smiled, “No problem Nat what are friends for?”

We hugged and talked for the rest of the night until we fell asleep. I cannot wait for this second date.
