My Colors

Red

Red is for the blood that every man bleeds. There is no black, brown or white blood, just red. It means we all bleed the same. Red means life. Red is also my favorite color. The red in the the American flag stands for the blood shed for freedom, maybe the red in the LGBTQ flag stands for the same. I am unique because of this color. All of the colors of the flag mean something. But red stands out.

Red is like a stop sign looking at both perspectives of life. Red is for the caboose on the train. It was my favorite because it was also red, but is also for hello and good bye. The caboose was always the last car coming into and leaving your city. The caboose always had a person on the back waiving as they came in or departed saying hello or goodbye. But like all things, the caboose has said goodbye and yielded to the end of train.

Red is for the traffic light, warning us to stop. We should all stop to take a pause, to think before we speak, Think before we act. Most of all to stop the hate that is being perpetuated on us by the politicians and media. Stop in the name of love.

Like some of our spices having attitude and some flare. Like a wine, sweet and smooth, maybe bitter. Like cherries, dark and sweet. Like Autumn leaves, beautiful and alluring giving way to winter. Like peaches, sweet and juicy but yellow on the inside.

Like the watermelon, sweet and juicy but red on the inside, loved by all. Like a pink grapefruit, red on the inside and bitter. Red like the plum dark red, but sweet, also can be a prune when dried.

Like the strawberries in the garden sweet on the inside, but everyone's favorite. Like the tomato, tangy but with s sweet taste. Like a bell pepper great for recipes, but a sweet taste.

Like the rose petals, soft and beautiful, with a sweet smell. Just like the poinsettia, decorative and festive for celebration. Like the sunset beautiful and saying goodbye to another day. Red like the ruby, rich in color and used in decoration.

Like a fire, warm, dangerous and fascinating all at once. Like the fire truck, rushing to help someone, but amazingly big at the same time. Like the fire ants, nice to watch but also dangerous.

Like raspberries, small, soft and sweet but delicious. Like the holly, used to celebrate Christmas in which we celebrate the birth of Christ and renewed hope. Like the radish, small but sharp in taste. Like the orchids, colorful, fragrant and many varieties.

Like Mars, fourth planet from the sun. No life but important to the solar system. Like red diamonds, rare and expensive but exquisite. Like the red beryl previously known as the red ruby but very expensive and rare.

Red like the Cardinal deep in color, rich in color found only in the North. Like saffron a spice used as a colorant in some culinary dishes. Like the apple, crunchy, sweet and delicious. Rosy like the cheeks of a young child playing in the snow in the winter time. Like an angry face irritated and angry at the world. Red like the exit signs leading the way to safety. Red is a lipstick. Red is a shout. Red is a signal That says, “Watch out!”

Red is a big rubber ball. Red like chilis adding heat and spice. Poisonous like the redback spider. Like the fire extinguisher, there for your protection. Like the warning labels, there to save your life and protect you. Like the red nose on the clown, false, but something to laugh at. Like the red orange, sweet delicious, healthy but red on the outside. Like the great red spot on Jupiter, named after a large storm. Like cadmium, a metallic element used as a base for red paints.

Like the beetroot plant, red staining juice used as a coloring for dye.

I am red!!
