The term "marathon" refers to a long-distance foot race that primarily runs on roads and covers 42.195 kilometres. The next thing that people wonder about is how it came into being in the first place. Philippides or Pheidippides, a Greek messenger who ran all the way to Athens to tell the people that the Greeks had defeated the Persians at the Battle of Marathon, originates from around 490 BC. Philippides, or Pheidippides, is said to have run the entire distance. Pheidippides, upon realising the seriousness of the situation and recognising the significance of the mission, immediately set out on foot and continued to run without stopping.

Different Kinds Of Marathons

We have 4 different categories of the marathon. MP Pankh Half Marathon allows you to participate in one of the categories and challenge yourself to improve.

While going through the types of the marathon, you can click on registrations to register yourself for the run.

1. Marathon (42.2 km)

For this race, you need to have at least six months of intense training under your belt. For this race, conditioning your body is essential; however, the true secret to victory will be establishing reasonable time goals for yourself and then working to achieve those goals.

2. Half Marathon (21.1kms)

Your objective is going to be accomplished in stages. As soon as you feel comfortable with a marathon, you should test your limits and determine how strong you are by running a half marathon. However, to accomplish this goal, you must engage in mental and physical training, adhere to a nutritious eating plan, and take care of your regular responsibilities.

3. 6.21 miles/10 km Race

You can begin your journey toward the marathon with a race of six kilometres, in which you simply take part and enjoy yourself if you are a beginner and are just getting started. You also can run in a race that is 10 kilometres long and compete against other runners. Even though you will need to put in some effort to achieve it, beginning with a more modest objective and working toward achieving it will give you a sense of personal triumph.

4. Ultramarathon (Standard distances are 50 km, 100 km, and 161 km)

A race known as an ultra-marathon covers a distance that is greater than that of a marathon. To get the most out of this training, you need to accurately understand the distance and the terrain you will cover. Therefore, during the first two months of the training, the primary focus should be gradually increasing the mileage of both easy and long runs.

5. Racing Through Multiple Stages

Stage races differ entirely from single-day running competitions because they take place over multiple days and focus more on the journey than the competition itself. Taking part in these races is a fantastic way to get to know new people who share a passion for running and have some wild adventures and a fantastic time.
