Let's FIX THE WORLD — Because At Last We Actually Can!

Why fixing the world begins with explaining the human condition

The Awesome Sunrise of the Human Condition Reconciled and Relieved New World

Across every major domain of human life — politics, mental health, social cohesion, and the environment — the same pattern is emerging: things are breaking down.

Conflict is intensifying. Division is deepening. Rates of anxiety, depression, and loneliness are rising globally. A major international analysis published in The Lancet Psychiatry reported that young people are now showing “the most serious warning signs and symptoms of a society and a world that is in serious trouble.”

These are not isolated issues. They are expressions of a single, underlying problem. That problem is the human condition — and until we can fix the world at that deepest level, the crises will continue to manifest in new forms.

The Problem That Remained Unsolved

For decades — in fact, for centuries — humanity has tried to improve the world in countless ways.

We’ve built political systems, advanced science, reformed economies, and launched social movements. Yet despite all of this effort, the same core behaviours persist: conflict, insecurity, competition, and breakdown.

The reason is simple. We have been trying to fix the symptoms without first understanding the cause.

Until the human condition is addressed and explained, every attempt to fix the world will remain partial and ultimately ineffective, because it does not address the underlying source of the problem.

The Critical Breakthrough: Understanding Ourselves

The critical breakthrough needed to finally fix the world is presented by Australian biologist Jeremy Griffith, who has identified the biological origin of the human condition, in his 'instinct versus intellect' treatise.

Jeremy Griffith presenting at the Royal Geographical Society in London

His explanation centres on the emergence of the fully conscious human mind. Instincts are gene-based systems that orient behaviour automatically. The intellect, by contrast, is a learning system — it must experiment, question, and develop understanding.

When humans developed a conscious mind, it inevitably began to override instinct in order to learn how to manage the world. This created an unavoidable conflict.

Instincts cannot understand why deviation is necessary. The intellect cannot function without it. The result was a fundamental clash between two different systems within the human mind.

The Source of Human Behaviour

This conflict explains the otherwise contradictory nature of human behaviour.

The destructive and defensive patterns that have characterised human life are not signs of a flawed or “bad” species. They are the responses of a conscious mind that, until now, could not explain why it had to defy its instincts. Without that explanation, the intellect had to justify itself.

It did so through anger, egocentricity and alienation — responses that became embedded across individuals, cultures, and systems, shaping the world we now live in.

Why This Changes Everything

Once the conflict is understood, the need for the defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation ends.

The conscious mind no longer has to justify itself. The underlying insecurity is removed. The psychological tension that has driven human behaviour is resolved at its source.

This is not an attempt to manage or moderate behaviour. It is an explanation that eliminates the cause of that behaviour.

A New Position for Humanity

That shift changes the human situation fundamentally. For the first time, the human condition is no longer an unresolved problem shaping everything we do from beneath the surface. It is an understood condition.

With that, the basis of ongoing conflict and dysfunction is removed — not by control, but by resolution.

Which brings the central claim into focus. If the source of human dysfunction has been addressed, then the prospect of fixing the world is no longer speculative. It is now grounded in understanding.

So let’s fix the world — because at last we actually can!

Humanity's liberation from the dark cave of alienation that the finding of understanding of the human condition has finally made possible.
