Sara- Chapter 1

Sara sat on the floor of her massive sized living room her mind racing so fast her eyes twitched. So much running through her head and yet her mind was a blank. No words or idea just empty thoughts flashing, racing. The only thing she could catch was what do I do, what do I do, or I don’t know which she interchangeably repeated out loud. She smelled rancid and had barley eaten in days running off of liquids and most of them contained some form of alcohol. “What do I do” she stammered “I don’t know, I don’t know” she whispered in reply. She curled herself up in a ball of fear wrapped herself in a blanket and drifted off to sleep.

It had been three weeks since her trip to Canada this was the last time, she recognized herself she was so carefree. Malcom had said she always waited to long for the big events in her life and on that trip, she realize he was right. “You never just say yes to yourself. You always make yourself wait. What are you waiting for” today those words rung in her ears? When she returned from that trip Malcom was there to greet her and she could not wait to tell him all about the self-discovery and insight she had gained and how he was right, and she would never delay her dreams again.

Malcom was her best friend, her toughest critic but her biggest ally. When she said she was not longer dealing with the toxic family relationships and moved to Michigan he supported her whole heartedly and when that move turned out to be a bad idea, he helped her pack a U-Hal and drive back to Alabama. “What do I do” she cried on his shoulder “I don’t know” he responded, “But your gonna do it”.

Waking up on a cold, wooden floor with a hangover was no picknick but waking up on with a hang over on cold wooden floor over 40 was a different kind of struggle. Her head was pounding, and her stomach was sick she was dizzy, and every bone in her body was burning. “Why God Why” she screamed to the ceiling while crawling to the nearest bathroom. The House was dark and cold her cell phone was buzzing, and the sound was excruciating. She leaned over the bathtub and purged her bad decisions with emesis and tears. It had been three days and shockingly none of the neighbors had stopped it which was strange because when she first bought the house, they were swarming like bees, lined up like ants on parade to see the newcomer. They stopped in everyday with cupcakes and questions accompanied with condescending looks but the past three days it was quiet and still as if they knew.

The smell of vomit made her sick that’s why she loathed throwing up its suffrage to throw up because someone threw up especially if the someone is you. This grotesque cycle continued for 45 minutes then there was a knock at the door. The buzzing and buzzing of her phone and the pounding on the door and ringing of the door belle was a sure indicator she had to answer something. Since the phone was hard to find the door it was. She lifted herself off the floor and rinsed the puke from the tub, took a few minutes to rinse her mouth with water and tuck run her fingers through her straggly hair and tuck it behind her ears.

“Alright, alright, I’m coming, just a minute” she half yelled while stumbling down the hall.

“Oh my God honey did you die”?

It was Malcom.
