It's A Date

I was sitting at home listening to the radio. My favorite song came on titled: I A m Proud of It All. Then the phone rang, I went to answer it. I said, "Hello". It was my sister Lee. We talked for a while, then she said, "I was talking to my boyfriend Ronnie and he said that his cousin Kevin is in town for a couple of days". Then Lee said, "Oh shoot!" I said, "What Lee?" she said, "I just spilled my glass of Merlot wine all over myself." I said, " I never heard of that before, it's wine?" Lee said, "yes its really good!" I said, "I'll have to try it." Lee explains, As I was saying, Ronnie asked me to ask you would you like to go to dinner with us? I responded, tell him I would love to go. Lee said, "That's great Darlene." I said "What does he look like?" Lee said, "Ronnie is handsome so good looks run in his family". I stated, I never been on a blind date before, but it will be fun. "I know I will be alright because I'll be with you Lee." Lee continued, his cousin Kevin is a district manager, and he travels all over the country promoting Merlot wine. I stated, he has a good job! Lee said, "Yes". He is here for only a couple of days so be ready at 6 o'clock. I replied, "Okay, this will be my first blind date!" We both laughed. Remember, I said, "6 pm Sunday". I said..."Okey-dokey." Then Lee said, "Let me pour myself another glass of Merlot wine." I laughed and said, "Good bye baby sister see ya Sunday." She said, "Okay bye, I love you," I said, "I love you more." Then I hung up the phone.

Meanwhile Sunday comes and I fixed myself up all pretty; and was ready to go on this blind date. I heard the doorbell chime and I went to go answer the door. It was Lee she said, "You look pretty," I replied, "You do too." I grabbed my pocket book and locked the front door. Kevin got out of the car to open the door for me. I got in the car and he got in, I said, "Thank you." "You are such a gentleman." He said, "Thank you." I told him my name is Darlene, but everybody calls me Peaches. He asked, "What would you like for me to call you, Darlene or Peaches?" I responded, "Darlene." Lee said, "Why you didn't open the door for me Ronnie? Ronnie said, "I forgot to." We all made some small talk until we got to the restaurant. The building was beautiful and inside was fabulous. As we entered the dining area the waiter said, "Good evening." We replied back. He took us to our table. Ronnie, and Kevin pulled out our seats so that Lee and I could sit down, then the waiter gave us our menus and said, "Call me when you are ready to order." We said, "Okay." Ronnie asked, Lee and I "What would you ladies like to have for dinner?" Kevin said, "Order whatever you want, it's all on me." we all said, "Thank you."

Lee proceeded with ordering the lamb and rice platter with a glass of Merlot wine, then I said, "I will have the same thing Lee has ordered." Kevin asked Ronnie, what would you like to order? Ronnie said, "I will have steak and potatoes," and last Kevin said, "I'll have the same." Kevin held his finger up and over came the waiter. He gave the waiter our orders, then requested two bottles of Merlot with four chilled glasses. As we were waiting for our food entrees and glasses of Merlot to come Lee and I excused ourselves to go to the ladies room, to wash up and talk. Lee asked me, "Do you like him Darlene?" I said, "Yes," five nine and smooth as a glass of Merlot wine...we both laughed. We left the bathroom returned to our table, Kevin and Ronnie pulled out our chairs for us again and tucked us in. They excused themselves for the men's room and quickly returned. As we waited for our food to come, Kevin asked, "Would you like to dance Darlene?" I said, "Sure." It was a slow dance, Ronnie and Lee didn't want to dance so they sat. While we were dancing we talked about his ex wife and his grown children, three of them, and his four grandchildren. I told him I was married at the age of seventeen, and have four children, and 10 grandchildren, he said, "Wow that's a lot!" I told him I hide at birthdays, he laughed. Kevin mentioned, "You have to let me lead in the dance. I responded,"I don't know why I always end up leading." I asked him, "You have a good job, don't you?" He replied, "Yes, it pays the bills, then he asked. "Have you ever had Merlot wine?" I said "No, it will be new to me."The song ended we returned to our table, our food came we all started to eat, the waiter had brought the bottles of wine with four chilled glasses. Kevin asked... "Ladies, would you like to have your wine now?" We said, "Yes at the same time." I said, "Fill her up." I seem to drank my wine so fast because it was so delicious! We all talked and laughed and finished our dinner.

We all ordered a slice of strawberry cheesecake to take home. Kevin asked, "Would you like to have another glass of Merlot Lee?" she said, "No, one is my limit." "How about you Darlene?" I said, "I surely would," so Kevin filled my glass and I drank it right up. He also asked Ronnie if he wanted a refill. Ronnie said, "No I have to drive us home." Lee asked Kevin, what are you going to do with that extra bottle of Merlot wine? He said, "I got it for Darlene so that she will have a memory of tonight." I responded, "Thank you so much, a chilled glass of Merlot is really good." Then it was time to go, so we left the restaurant. The guys opened the car doors for us. We got in Lee said, "I had a wonderful time," I replied yes, "I did too." Ronnie and Kevin responded with we're glad you did and smiled. Kevin asked Ron, could you drop me off first at my hotel? Ronnie said, "Sure." I opened the bottle of wine and Kevin handed me a glass, I said, "You stole a glass?" He said, "Yes because I wanted a memory." I said, "Ooooh you're a thief!" then we all laughed. Kevin asked would you like to go to my hotel room with me? I asked how would I get home? Kevin responded, "I have a car, I can take you home, I said, "Sure I would like to go." I always wanted to see how it looked in there. We said goodnight to Lee and Ronnie and went inside. I said, "Kevin it is beautiful in here." He said, "Yeah it is but wait till you see my suite." We went into the elevator and Kevin pushed the button to the seventh floor. All of a sudden I started to feel light headed, was I drunk from the wine? Kevin opened the door and I stepped in. Wow! it was a beautiful room, we sat down and He proceeded to pour us another glass of Merlo. As we sat on the sofa talking we started kissing, french kissing, and feeling all over each other, he asked me if I would like to spend the night? I declined. Then we started kissing again. He said he was hot and so was I. He excused himself to the bathroom.

As I waited, I went into the kitchen and got a chilled glass out of the cooler and poured another glass of wine. As I was drinking it...all of a sudden Kevin came out of the bathroom and was butt naked, I said, "What are you doing Kevin?!" He said, "I really like you." I said, "Put some clothes on!" In the excitement I continued to drink his glass of wine. He then asked me if I would have sex with him. I said, "I haven't had a man in years and we don't know each other well enough. Actually I am waiting for someone to marry, my playing days been over." He said, "I understand but my body is hurting for you." I said, "Well it will just have to hurt." He said, "I am in no shape to take you home call a cab and I will pay for it." I called the cab, I thought we did drank too many glasses of Merlot. I told him the dispatcher lady said, "They will be here in ten minutes." He put his clothes on and walked me downstairs, as we were waiting he said, "I want to give you something." I responded, " What?" he pulled out of his pocket a tiny bottle of Merlot wine. I said, "Thank you, you didn't have to do that." It was only enough for one glass. I stuck it in my purse, as Kevin was saying, "I will never get married again. I'm a player, I am not the marrying type." I told him he is not the one for me. The cab came and he helped me into it and shut the car door. He gave me the money for the cab, as we said our goodbyes, the cab pulls off. I told the cabby my address, we get there I give him the money, he said, "You are a dollar short." I told Mr. Cab driver "I don't have anymore money, would you take a small bottle of Merlo wine? It's enough for one glass." He said, "I don't usually do this but, yes I'll take it, because a chilled glass of Merlot is so.....good its the best wine I ever tasted, I love it so!" Thank you Mr. Cabby, I got out, went inside put my big bottle of Merlot in the refrigerator and a glass to chill in the cooler, took a shower and got into bed. I thought Merlot wine is so....delicious then I fell asleep.

The next morning I got up went to work, did what I normally do and went home. The phone rang, it was my sister Lee. "Hello Lee, Let me tell you what happened at the hotel with Kevin!" As I was telling Lee what happened she just laughed and laughed. "Darlene I am shocked, you don't need that type of guy." I said, "Thats right he wants to be a player, as old as he is, but I want to get married." Lee asked, " if I wanted to come over to her place next Sunday at 7pm. I'm having a party with some of the people from the art gallery." I told her I would be glad to come. She told me "Perfect, and you know what I am going to make a dish using Merlot wine. I found a recipe in my cookbook that I will use." I told her, "Lee that is great, will there be men there?" She said, "Yes... ten men and five women. Maybe you will find Mr. Right!" We both laughed and said our goodbyes.
