There are innumerable people who complain about their marital relationships, simply put, many of us are having a troubled marriage. When our relationships with the people we love start to falter, one of the alternatives we seek out is to get out of that relationship. The idea behind this rationale is that remaining in a relationship that is not ideal will not do us any good; rather, it will only wreak havoc in our life. But if you have an option to save the relationship that you're in, would you do it?

What My Troubled Marriage Was Like...

I used to squirm at the fact that my relationship with my spouse was going down the drain. Personally, there is something that is really downright disappointing when you begin to realize that you are having a troubled marriage. As ridiculous as it sounds, I was admittedly one of those people who used technology to try to solve marital problems. While that fact alone is a little off on my part, the reality that my spouse was seemingly uninterested in fixing our problems made things even worse. My spouse uncooperativeness at that time was really a great challenge for me.

It was hard for me to work out our problems when it felt like I was the only one who was exerting an effort to save our marriage. Nevertheless, my hard work had paid off. My marriage is saved and my spouse and I are happier now than we have ever been. For those people who are discouraged about their troubled marriages, don't worry. There's still hope. There are different approaches that we can use to save relationships but when it comes to marital affairs, I believe that some of the things I learned and tweaked for my own marriage will generally be useful in helping confused married couples.

Here are 3 of the things that I took to heart:

1) I Stopped Trying to Change What I Can't Change - My spouse has some points of view that I honestly don't agree with and this is one of the reasons why we often argue. While doing some research, I found out that changing your spouse's way of thinking should not be an option at all. You should not change how another person thinks or acts. By changing how your partner thinks or acts, you are also robbing your partner of the personal space that is vital for his or her growth as a person.

2) I Stopped Asking for Advice from Other People - Seeking advice from other people is seemingly natural, especially if you are in a state of confusion. But then again, the thing that you have to understand is that hearing too many opinions may only confuse you even more. There is also a certain taboo factor in relating the state of your marital affairs to other people because by doing so, the once untainted image of your partner will be replaced with an irreversible negative perception of what he or she is really like.

3) I Stopped Thinking of Divorce as An Alternative - Stop thinking about a way out and start thinking of ways to make your marriage work. Learn and practice the art of giving and taking. Be loving, truthful and learn to compromise so that both your needs will be addressed by each other.

Help For a Troubled Marriage - What You & Your Spouse Must Do to Start Rebuilding Your Marriage

There are many people out there that want help for their troubled marriage. Although it will take some time and effort, if both spouses are interested in making it work then the marriage can be saved.

Some people believe there is no hope and start searching for a new spouse. This is a bad idea since you will always have issues you need to work out with whomever you're with. So with that being said you might as well work out your issues with the spouse you are with now.

When you save your troubled marriage you will experience a rewarding experience. So before you throw in your towel you should try your best to save your marriage first, no matter how much trouble it is currently in.

One of the first things you can do to help save your troubled marriage is confront the problems you know need to be resolved. If problems remain in your marriage without being fixed they will end up becoming bigger and even harder to resolve.

When it comes to resolving problems within your marriage you have to learn to stop blaming one another. You have to stop blaming and start communicating effectively.

Throwing around accusations and blaming your spouse for doing this and that will open old wounds and make it even harder to make things better. Moreover, your spouse may not even want to have a discussion with you any more because they know you are going to blame them for everything.

When you are trying to communicate properly you have to listen to your spouse and understand where they are coming from. When you just want to place the blame you become a one sided thinker and your behavior will make your troubled marriage even worse.

When you are communicating your main objective is to get to the real problem. You and your spouse need to able to get everything out on the table to solve the issues putting your marriage in trouble. You may need a marriage counselor if you feel you and your spouse can't communicate without getting confrontational.

When you are trying to save your troubled marriage one of the best things you can learn how to do is forgive and forget. You have to forgive or else you will hurt yourself in the long run.

Regardless of what happened in the past you have to forgive your spouse and forget about the incident. It may be hard but you have to take a chance and trust them that whatever it is they did won't happen again. If you put your spouse on guilt trips it will only make your situation worse.

Finally, now that you and your spouse have had this serious talk it may be necessary for the both of you to do some soul searching. Doing some soul searching will allow the both of you to work on yourselves so you can both become better mates.
