Forrest Gump is a 1994 American comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. The film stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Gary Sinise. It is based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The movie tells the story of Forrest Gump, a simple man with a low IQ, who accidentally becomes a part of some of the defining moments in American history from the 1950s to the 1980s. The film was a commercial and critical success, winning six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Tom Hanks.

The film opens with Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, sitting at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia. As he waits for his bus, he begins to tell his life story to anyone who will listen. We are taken back to his childhood in Alabama, where he is born with a curved spine and a low IQ. His mother, played by Sally Field, does everything she can to give him a normal life, including convincing the local school board to let him attend public school.

Forrest's lack of intelligence causes him to be bullied by his classmates, but he finds solace in running. He discovers that he is a natural runner and eventually earns a football scholarship to the University of Alabama. However, he is unable to pass the required courses and is forced to leave school.

Forrest then enlists in the army and is sent to Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he befriends a fellow soldier named Bubba, played by Mykelti Williamson. Bubba tells Forrest about his dream of starting a shrimp business when he returns home. Sadly, Bubba is killed in action, but Forrest fulfills his promise to Bubba by starting the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company after he returns to the United States.

After leaving the army, Forrest becomes a national celebrity when he inadvertently helps to expose the Watergate scandal. He also meets and falls in love with Jenny, played by Robin Wright. Jenny, who grew up with Forrest, is a troubled young woman who is constantly running away from her problems. Despite her troubled past, Forrest remains devoted to her and proposes to her multiple times.

Throughout the movie, Forrest is present during some of the defining moments in American history, including the desegregation of the University of Alabama, the Vietnam War, and the anti-war movement. He even meets several U.S. presidents, including John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

One of the most memorable scenes in the movie is when Forrest begins running across the country for no particular reason. He becomes a national sensation and is even interviewed by Dick Cavett. However, when he reaches the Pacific Ocean, he decides to turn around and run back home.

The film is a beautiful portrayal of the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Forrest Gump is an incredibly endearing character who is impossible not to love. Despite his low IQ and physical limitations, he never gives up and always tries his best. The movie also explores the themes of love, friendship, and the meaning of life.

Tom Hanks delivers an Oscar-winning performance as Forrest Gump. He perfectly captures the character's innocence and naivety, while also conveying his inner strength and determination. Robin Wright is also excellent as Jenny, bringing depth and complexity to the character.

The film's cinematography and visual effects are also impressive. The scenes in Vietnam are particularly well done, with the use of special effects seamlessly blending real footage with CGI. The film's soundtrack is also noteworthy, featuring popular songs from the 1950s to the 1980s.

One of the criticisms of the film is that it presents a sanitized version of American history. While
