His hands lightly touched the keys and he played on effortlessly. Skimming the black and white keys back and forth and it made her mind wonder and fantasize how gentle he might be with her. He glanced up at her and smiled happily. He tilted his head back and forth, small dark strands of his hair danced across his forehead. He was the picture of joy, enjoying every note. She looped back some of her dark hair around her ear and leaned in towards him. Her head rested in her hand and her arm dug into her crossed leg. She smiled back encouragingly. He was handsome not just physically but he gave off an air of something else extremely attractive.

As the piece became more intense his gaze became more fiery and it lifted their stare into something more intimate. He tried to maintain the stare, the connection, but the intensity of the music began to overtake his expressions. He was deep into the emotion of the notes and the closeness of her created more heat. He again gazed at her, eyebrows lifted with the sweetest expression and she felt something in her lift her heart. He was connecting with her on another level and was offering a piece of him to her. She felt it. It was spiritual and she felt like his soul was reaching out to her. It was all in his eyes. They burned into her, for her. She studied them intensely. The light strands of amber swirled in his dark eyes and seemed to almost glow. He slyly smiled noticing her attention to him.

They seemed to be entranced and enveloped in a cloud of music that closed around them, edging them closer to each other. It was warm, inviting, safe and natural. His glanced at his hands as they glided over the keys, almost gratefully. He suddenly stopped and sat back a bit on the bench. He turned to her, now knees to knees. He stared down at their feet, they were so close together. He looked up and she caught his eyes. They ached with longing and happiness. It was a happiness with not just the music he created but with how it made her smile. He knew that it had made her smile inside too and that brought him even more joy. He brushed her soft hair out her eyes gently and dragged his thumb down the side of her face to outline her jaw down to her chin. He seemed to study her, wondering what she was thinking.

"Come on."

He stood up and reached out to her. His strong hand gripped hers when she finally offered it and she rose to meet him.

"What.. where are we going?"

He smiled softly back and gently pulled her to the soft lighted hall.

They stood together looking up at the portrait.

He tilted his head to the side as he studied intensely the portrait.

"It's so beautiful, don't you see it? Look. Here and here." he motions.

She scrunches her face and narrows her eyes trying to see what he sees. Studying each place and area he gestured towards. Her eye brows raised with frustration.

He stood with one arm supporting the other as he rests his head in his hand. He moved to straighten his glasses a bit and smiles broadly, certain he now of what he sees.

"Strange, I see it so clearly."

He steps back to take in the fullness of the portrait.

"Breathtaking. Just breathtaking." he slowly shook his head in amazement.

She again, tilts her head hoping it will bring new perspectives. She narrows her eyes and her eyes dart back and forth across the portrait to the places where he had said it would be more obvious. She studies the color, the pose, the expression on the subject's face. Her eyes widened and her expression begins to lift as she slowly begins to see the marks of real beauty. Still second guessing herself she says in a whisper,

"I think I'm starting to see what you're talking about."

She straightens her posture affirmatively signaling she is content with what she sees. She slowly nods double checking the portraits features again.

"It will take some studying but, I need to take a closer look later."

He drops his arms and gently takes her hand, slowly turning it over to kiss it as he looked up at her smiling sweetly.

"You'll see it, you will. It may take some time but you will. Come on, let's go take in the garden. The roses are starting to bloom now."

He slowly dropped and released her hand so that he could place his hand on her shoulder drawing her in for a small hug. Gently, he kissed her forehead thoughtfully.

"Why did you have a portrait done of me anyway?"

He softly chuckled and walked her towards the garden doors.
