Not all decisions happen overnight, some require meticulous planning with scrutiny and consideration especially when it comes to big decisions.

Shall I move? Shall I buy a new car? Shall I change job?

But neither do all aspects of our personality reveal or develop without the right conditions, sometimes it takes changes in our life’s to happen or situations to arise to test us or new challenges or activities to take us out of our comfort zone, it could be through meeting someone new that reveals a new side to you. It could be conditions out of your control that forces change, when you think you’re on the wrong path you find one better than you ever imagined.

Life is an ever changing canvas, through thoughts, intention, we experience and manifest what we need for ourselves right now.(The Law of Attraction)

Each footsteps taken builds our unique and authentic self.

Do you know what makes you happy?

Do you do what makes you happy?

For years I’ve been striving for a more free way of life. The plan was sell my home, become a cash buyer, take the pressure off, buy a holiday home in Spain in the sunshine and rent in the UK. This this is known as a BARBIE. Buy abroad rent back in England.

I lived by myself, I worked all day & only went home to sleep. What was I doing it for?

This was why I was selling up, become mortgage free and buy in the sun.

The process took time, my flat needed work before marketing and I was finally ready to market October 2019. Brexit happened on my Birthday, 31st January 2020. I took a screenshot of the TV with my birth date on it, but it felt a sad day.

A sense of freedom disappeared, would buying in Spain be as easy? would I have the same choices? I felt as if freedom had been taken away just as I was about to find it?!

But I stayed focused on my dream, I had to for my mental well-being. I was focused on this dream.

March 2020 Covid lockdown began, Estate Agents furloughed I had a buyer waiting in the wings but nothing was secure. Summer 2020 I accepted his offer & by the winter his mortgage offer was taken off the table, the financial market for first time buyers was harder than ever..time passed, another buyer passed, I moved out, I moved back in, i remortgaged and it was third buyer lucky & I finally completed November 2021.

By which time I needed a plan B. Flights were not easy, if I bought in Spain, could I even get there?

As my car lease came to its end, my plan B was to buy a camper van to get me to Spain, I could live in it weekends & take a Monday to Friday UK let. It made sense, it gave me more than one option to get to Spain & helped with UK.

I had a weeks holiday coming up so the focus was buy a camper.

I booked as much to view as possible, scouring the autotrader to quirky campers, I spoke to wheeler dealers who put me off, saw a great one on paper which drove as loud as a tractor until the last but one day I visited a depot that had quite a few motorhomes under one roof, although the ones I booked to view were too old fashioned or small, the sales manager said ‘’why don’t I take a look about?’’ Look at everything and see what I could get for the money.

I opened every door and I stepped inside every vehicle, around 20 in total!

One had the door locked but I noticed the cab was open and stepped inside, it was bright, airy, sunny and was lovely.

I sat on the bed and didn’t want to leave, then Chris the Sales Manager eventually found me and asked ‘’What did I think of it?’’

That moment, I held back emotion, because I wanted it!

I knew when I stepped in, it would be my home to live in permanently. it was double my budget & with no exchange of contracts yet I didn’t have the money yet!

But ‘it’ was ‘she’ & I named her ‘Sunny Girl’ as that is how she made me feel, Sunny inside! Plus she had lemon curtains.

My new motorhome! The Universe brought about events to have a loan of money until such time of completion.

I viewed it on the Saturday and I went back on the Sunday to test drive and put down the deposit.

Although I didnt realise if at the time. My life experiences were shaping me to where I am now, if I had what I had 10 years ago I wouldn’t have been ready for it or be able to handle it.

And my restlessness not to live in a house for any length of time in the past made me an ideal candidate for living on the road, I loved travelling, visiting new places, in fact that was what made me ‘feel alive’ I already recognised this in myself and would spend hours and hours out and about at weekends not wanting to go home! It all started to make sense although I was daunted and questioned ‘was I mad?’

I had bought a motorhome off a ‘feeling’!

I fell in love with her

I always lived life through how I felt, but making changes are not easy, you have to break through fear, it is natural, it will have you awake at night but ultimately you have to trust your feelings and the universe brought this together extremely quickly for me.

Whilst with Spain, I was pushing & pushing and it never came! I was planning for years.

Spain is what I thought I wanted! (It is still a dream) but it’s not right for me now! The Universe has greater plans!!

I’ve done a lot of that in the past, live from the ‘heart’ if I feel it, I do it.

I’ve moved 14 times in my adult life since moving out of home at 16, that speaks restlessness in volumes!

I enjoy the new and perhaps I’ve never really settled. I enjoy travel and love not knowing where you might end up, take a new turn on a road and see where it leads. It excites me.

You find a new cafe, restaurant, a shop and meet new people.

This is an excerpt poem/story from my upcoming book

‘A Piece of Me’ due out 2022/2023 through Olympia Publishers London.

(Inspired by my first trip in my motorhome whilst sat in The Green Man public house in Fownhope, Herefordshire UK)

‘On My Way’

A traveller sees the best in everything, the best side of people willing to help you on your journey.

Observing enough of the scene to capture the beauty.

The fire didn’t have chance to burn out

Chatter didn’t tire.

Fresh eyes and ears haven’t heard these stories before.

And now you have new tales to tell, remaining strangers of mostly mystery .

…..

I’ve always done my own thing, if you wait for others to be ready, where would you be? disappointed and unhappy?

So follow ‘you’ and what makes you happy! Even if it feels scary.

Buying a motorhome is the best decision I’ve ever made.

(I’ll be writing more about my experiences on vocal.media)
